Hero weapons and outfit

My bag is already full of different weapons and outfit for my hero and more than  half of them are intended for use in Medieval and Renaissance Age. All of them give some advantage in battle to the Hero or to the army. I cannot help noticing that items of the same type used in Renaissance or Medieval Ages give less advantage than items from Classical Age - for example Piercing Axe (Classical) gives Hero attack 28 while Long Bow (Medieval) gives Hero attack 16. The same is with items from the same age but intended for different Hero levels - Bone bow (Classical, Hero level 40) gives attack 20 while my Piercing Axe that I am using now (level 25) gives attack 28. So my question is what is the use of weapons or outfit for a high level hero or for a more advanced age which are less powerful than those in less advanced ages. If I use these items by purpose I will never use those less powerful and would prefer to keep those from previous ages. At this point of the game it seems to me that some of them can be used for fashion and styling purposes only (I admit that, while waiting, still it is fun to combine different outfit to match a certain styling for my Hero). Maybe later on in the real game they will have yet different functionality and advantages?

Thats because you are comparing a ranged weapon with a close combat one, and they have to make less damage to counter the fact that your hero will be placed further form enemys, thus making s/he live longer in battle

I thought this may be the reason, but still it seems logical to me that a more advanced age must give more powerful weapons - their purpose is defined as Attack, Armor, Army Health and so on.

And if my Hero is level 40 she will not be so afraid of close combat (so a crossbow is not so necessary) than my Hero level 25 with an Axe in hand which supposes close range in battle.

P.S. Chao, could you PM me please

Compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges - compare axes with axes and bows with bows and you will se the proper picture.

I didn't mean to start a discussion or criticize anybody, I just asked a question that seems logical to me, but I still have brains enough not to compare apples to oranges. And if I am not right in my reflections I cannot help but ask why it is so – after all we have the same goal, don't we – to make this game better. I had deleted most of the Renaissance and Medieval age items, so I cannot give a thorough statistics but just on prima vista apples to apples compare:
     Category Hero health:
Classical age:   Patrician mantle – Health 30
Medieval age:   Belted flap – Health 20; Mural mantle – Health 15
     Category Army speed:
Classical age:   Strapped sandals – Army speed 6%; Tiger claws – Army speed 10%
Medieval age:   Poulaines – Army speed 6%
     Category Army health:
Classical age:   Eques helmet – Army health 20%
Medieval age:   Nasal casque – Army health 15%
     Category Army attack:
Classical age:  Eques wristlets – Army attack 8%
Medieval age:   Jaegar gloves – Army attack 6%
I do not give weapon comparison on purpose – there is one more variable with them (close range combat or combat from a distance) which makes comparison a little more subjective and not so obvious, but still I have an example here too – Bone bow (Classical) – Attack 20, Long bow (Medieval) – Attack 16.
Of course by formal logic I cannot compare wristlets to gloves, for example, but you have put them in the same category – items for the hands of my Hero that affect the army attack ability. Since I cannot wear them both in the same time and the effect of one age item is not accumulated over the effect of a lower age item, then this comparison is logical under these circumstances. And it seems logical that an item of the same category in a more advanced age should give at least a point more ability than similar in function items in the less advanced age. And since in the course of the game I have a pile of items in the same category from different ages, I would prefer to use a lower age but more powerful item instead of a higher age but less powerful one which makes the last useless.

Age is no the only thing that distinguishes items. There are different item tiers separated by level requirements. Some weapons require level 1 to use, some level 10, others level 20 and those which require higher level are better.
