In-game interface redesign sneak-peek

The work on redesigning game interface continues. Here is a work-in-progress draft:

https://twitter.com/TotemTribe2/status/764109417004535808

We have redesigned top icons line to make more room for the game. We have also redesigned the bottom part to make minimap prettier but also list of towns larger and more convenient. There will be progress indicators over those icons just like they are on the world map, so you will be able to see the progress of your other towns without going to the world map.

The advisors will be more functional, justifying their presense on the screen and a larger place. The resource and army panels and also flag button not present in this draft, but will stay.

What do you think?

This is the question I am asking myself. Have no idea yet how to integrate that nasty thing smoothly.

I suggest to put the advisors on the top of the screen with the other buttons.

And they don't speak unless spoken to :)

That's the main idea about them.

Could make the chat box a clickable icon that will open the box up over the other icons when you're wanting to chat.

I need to be able to see the chat box at all times. I use is constantly.

We are all very use to it on the bottom. No one likes the towns under it. How about if the box is back at the bottom and the towns run up the side?

Will the flag button go away?

The flag will be where the right-most town image is on this picture.

Really nice graphics! Well done!

One suggestion - I think the "jar" around the mini map should be smaller - it takes up quite some space compared to other icons and most of it is just filled with black.

Also, I'm not sure whether I need to post a suggestion in the bugs forum, but I thought it would be really nice to have an icon that would be similar to the "call hero here" but would move us to where the hero is. I find that it is really cumbersome to switch between let's say a dungeon - town - world map - dungeon when I only need to start new construction. Maybe if the map loaded faster it wouldn't be such a nuisance but right now it takes really long... Also when you explore a location and one town after another finishes construction it is quite distracting time after time to complete this sequence.

Below in the list of towns if hero is in some quest location, that quest location will be also present at the bottom. That way you will be able to switch back and forth to that location without going to the world map. Will that sort out your problem?

Yes! That's exactly what is needed :)

Yeah, chat is essential but I don't mind the idea of flashing icons for when something is said. . .

And, I'd like the advisors to have smaller icons up at the top too.  :-)

If we also could send hero from one quest location to the next location, we would be SOOOOO happy!! :)

This is not gonna happen as it breaks fundamental game mechanics where you can only send units eithoer to or from your own towns.

I like the clean uncluttered look and design of the current icons at the top. The way they are displayed against a background makes them easy to immediately see and recognize. The design of the new world map is nice and the new icons, but it seems to occupy more space than the existing one and block even more screen space.  The addition of a new icon for quest location is great - like that. However I like the size of the current icons and the small amount of space they use.  Bigger icons block more of the screen.  Not fond of continuous chat screen at the bottom and icons on the side. As more players begin to play on laptops with smaller screens (10 inch) actual play space is critical and bigger icons take away from actual play space.

The town icons will be bigger not only to navigate easier, but also to be used as indicators. There will be icons of town tasks placed over town icon so you can see if your upgrades are finished in other towns without going to the world map.
