Shade towns

1 2

In A5, when towns are abandoned, could they be taken over by shades of maybe even Jack of Swords minions.

Abandoned for a week, plus 3-5 days for every level on hero.  So a level 5 town would have to be unplayed a lot longer than a level one.

Shade towns could be leaderism, so they will yield more resources and be demolishable.

They could generate troops, so you have to fight for resources, but get xp for hero.

This could wait for A6, it's just something to think about.  I know you are all working really, really hard already.

Thank you.

Interesting concept. Love the idea. Even collect players would enjoy a battle with shades. The lines could change to purple or hot pink, so everyone would know that they were shade towns.

I go on vacation for a couple weeks and have to come back and fight the shade in my own town? Nope I do not think I like that idea at all.

Dear Sue, I can't see you ever being a low enough level to worry about that.  A level 5 would have to be abandoned for 1 week plus 4 x (3-5 days) = 19 - 27 days.  More than enough for a fortnights holiday.

Most good players can achieve level 5 in under a week.  Plus they usually have laptops.  A lot of hotels and holiday places have free wi-fi now.

A level 5 takes me about 10-12 days, but then, I'm not a great player, just a persistent one.

So if I get what your saying is after it would be totally abandoned and ready to be deleted, that the game changes it to a shade town or monster town. Give it another month or so to be totally deleted and let us have at it to attack with no remorse of hurting someone's feelings. I like that idea.

I think it is a great idea as well!  It would serve to occupy the folks who like the war aspect and were bummed when the abandoned towns were deleted.  And it would also be fun for those that are not big on the war side of the game to try things out without bringing on the wrath of another player.  Brilliant!!!!

I borrowed some of it from another mmo I used to play.  That other game was more war oriented.  Abandoned towns either deleted or turned barbarian.  I went off that one because it was too much work, especially if you were mug enough to volunteer for any kind of responsibility, in your alliance.

I LOVE this idea, to be able to attack without hurting anyone's feelings.

And, i don't know, but maybe as they have suggested, you can introduce it somehow in the story of the game... i am thinking of something like: "When your country finds itself without the guide of a proper leader, their souls slowly become twisted and corrupted due to the dark influences of (insert bad guy here), they turn into disfigured shadows of what they once where, before vanishing from the memories of everyone...and with them, the kingdom they inhabited"

Kind of creepy, but for me, those touches are what makes games memorable

I think Chao's idea is great. I would love to see that.

I agree, it would give us something extra to do and the achievement hungry players will have another challenge. Great idea!

Nice idea. I also like it.

I'd still rather have more quests released than this type of functionality right now, however it would truly be the mark of a beautiful game, if you ever decide to implement this in future updates.

It could be a post-release update, but many people seem to suggest they'd love to see this, and it could most likely motivate alpha players :D.

Also, from the programming point of view, coding something like this could be fun :P

This sounds like something to satisfy every player,  not required but extra fun.  Hope the devs will give this some serious consideration!!!

OH!   I really like the idea.  Collectives (who don't have the nerve to attack a real person) would really have a little more fun flexing our muscles.  Also gives us more of a reason to build a larger army.  Win/Win

While this idea sounds cool at glance, it has serious flaw which prevents it's implementation. If we will not remove towns after they are deleted, they will take valuable spots on the world map, where other players willing to settle (fertile plains, seashore, etc.), thus corrupting the world map. The player can abuse this to quit playing himself and make the game worse for his rival neighbors. If you have paid attention, the quest locations are always placed on cells where towns cannot be settled - hills, forests, mountains. Same with global resources. It was done for a reason.

I was thinking about this in other way, most of the towns would get deleted, and a small amout of them would turn shadow for a fixed amount of time, afterwards dissapearing.

I had in mind that those towns would be like a quest place, without any zone of it's own, but you arent able to play in them, and work like a town when attacked.

I guess every idea has it's pro's and con's , thank you for your response.   Maybe a shade town only needs one cell?  Like the other quest locations.  Some of the old hands are pretty used to have one cell towns in their domain, although I quite understand why they weren't happy about them, which is why I suggested shade towns be leaderism only, and thus demolishable.
