What's the point of using Necromancer?

I've seen that Necromancer gives you a single (a few?) undead units for 10 alive units.

It's basically mean that undead units are expansive ones.

Why should I want them? Aside of fact that they aren't eat anything (I doubt this will ever pay off the cost of killed units).

May I suggest you to ask your leader and the veteran players in your alliance how to use those travelling characters ?

Actually I disagree. It is a better idea to ask on forums as long as the question haven't been aswered on forums already. This way it will be helpful for other players who can use search to find the answer.

The necromancer will give you units like Skeletons and Bone knight etc. Give him units, there is even a special item you can obtain from him.
