Gems are back!

Gems are back!

For those who have played the original Totem Tribe, you will be pleased (or terrified) to hear that gems are returning by popular demand!

We had initially planned to add gems after all the quest locations were completed. However, since that may take years, we decided to add them now. From now on, all quest locations will have collectible gems. So far they don't have much of a purpose - but like in original Totem Tribe, collecting all of them in ALL locations will unlock something big. Since we currently only have two quest locations, naturally it will not unlock anything. However, if you collect them all you can brag about it :)

Let us know in your comments how quickly you were able to find all of the gems, how hard it was  and which ones were particularly tricky. Based on that feedback, we will decide how to hide them in future quest levels - harder or the other way around.

In Other News:

  • I have redesigned things inside the game, so hopefully this time the discrepancy between promoted and regular buildings will be solved once and for all.
  • The Temple is now upgradeable from Altar from here on in.
  • There was a killer bug in the game which caused all random monsters to fight as mushrooms. This has now been fixed. From now on, expect the monsters to become much much stronger. We might even need to make them a bit weaker in future updates. Anyway - let us know in your comments how you progress with the monsters from now on.
  • We have reworked the technical side of the battle system. Our next step would be to tweak unit stats and battle behavior. Expect the battle to become different in the future updates.

The first one to collect all the gems post here! :)

For me its more fear that pleasure, but a TT without gems isn't a TT game

EDIT: Aren't some gems more difficult to pick up than others? i have clicked 2 yellow gems 10 times and i only got them before finding another and clicking yellow ones again

EDIT 2 found every one in heralds home, OH will have to wait, i still haven't passed the wade, i had a bit problem trying to find one white and one green, but they are good placed, perhaps too easy

Ok--well--I think you better cut back on monster strength--it is a little overdone.  2 heroes and all army and animals have died fighting worms and walking birdhouses.  Mushroom men are still easy to kill

Monster strength is too high now, imo.  One group of small and medium muscards killed my entire army and hero and destroyed my greek fire.  This strength level will cost resources to retrain and rebuild and leaves heroes vulnerable to attack during retraining all because they fought monsters.  Monsters can roam my towns if that is the case.  ;-)

Gems is great! As smb said TT is not TT without gems! there will be something to do when waiting for an upgrade to end. But where can I  see how much gems I must collect and where are the gems I have collected? They are not in the bag, not anywhere as long as I can see. Do I need to record each gem now?

Finally monsters can take revenge on you, killing them like puppies for such a long time now :)

Also try picking up gems after another fix update, they should be easier now.

Like Chao I seem to have problems collecting the yellow ones. I keep clicking on them but they just don't want to be collected. Never heard of stubborn jewelry before! *lol*

to lucille> I can see them in a heap near the tent at heralds' home. When I click on that heap it tells me, that I have collected more than half of them. But as those yellow gems keep on resisting, I just can't seem to manage to get them all... :((

EDIT 2: Now it tells me exactly what I'm missing.

Found all gems at Herald's Home very quickly. Still missing 1 green gem at Opposition Hideout.

Had help locating one of the green gems at the hideout.

I think it is great that Harold's is not too difficult, since it is the first quest and people are just getting used to the game. I remember when I first started I was still lost at that point :)

I also like the difficulty at the Opposition Hideout. While I felt that some gems were too easy to find, one or two were nearly impossible. It is a good combination. I don't want to answer too many questions about "which locations were most difficult" until others have located those locations as well. I also do not want to see the difficulty of those few harder-to-locate gems be downgraded to something like "semi-hard". Apply that rating to the monster fights instead :)

The 'gem pile' at herolds gives exact information about what needs to be found... 1x green, 2s red etc. But, the Opposition 'pile' just says 'more than half of the gems have been found'. Seems overly 'cryptic' to me. Why not say what needs to be found?

When you get the remaining down below a certain number, then you will get the detailed info like you did at Herold's.

I found the Herald's Way to be a simple enough task.

The Opposition Hideout is more testing. I am still missing 1 green one and beginning to go cross-eyed.

I've got the same problem as Ghera in the Opposition Hideout. I'm also missing a green one and have searched inside and outside the cave. I think I need another set of glasses! *lol*
