Houses and build time

Hello, I am looking for more information about houses and build time. Some of my larger cities have a higher population and more houses but a slower build time. Is there anyone who understands this mechanic so I can understand how many houses to build for maximum building? My resource storages are always all maxed out because even simple upgrades take five or six hours in the renaissance era. Does a higher population increase corruption? Is there a table for this so  I can know what population numbers cause a building slowdown?  Its kinda making me lose interest in the game as every minor upgrade takes a half a day. Even upgrading my houses to increase my build time would take like a month of in game play if I focused on just those.

Apart from Stone age, I usually do housing, before I need it.  I like to keep it at the 50% maximum reduction, with some (extra town construction bonus), so I can do some building, without going over the 50%.  The numbers are all shown on the houses or the house "?" info icon.

Military building will increase your buildtime fast.  It really is better, to do a lot of housing, before you do a big military building.

If your buildtime is bad, or really, really bad, you might want to demolish some military buildings, while building more housing, to fix it.

The global incense, that you get from  Drama research (bottom row, classic) will reduce your buildtime, by 50% percentage points, for instance 350% buildtime, would reduce to 300%.

Big buildtime will kill the fun, I hate it :)

Beware of changing politics more than once.  The first change is 24 hours chaos, then after that it's 24 hours chaos AND you will lose a level off everything.  Any level 1 promoted buildings will disappear completely, this is particulary bad, if you have a lot of level 1 promoted housing.
