Some thoughts on chests

Chests are a very interesting part of the game and you do get quest items from them as well as lots of other things so it is important to try to open them. I think most people would agree that it is more interesting if you have to find x numbers of teeth or ladybugs, even the dreaded clover than just bringing x number of units to a chest. With finding objects you are always able to open the chests if you search hard enough. With having to bring a certain number of units that can be a problem. Most of the units are military and lots of players may not want to go the military route especially for things like rams and catapaults which are really only needed if you are going to attack others. Also some of these units need a lot of research before they can be built so the chests can sit there for days if not weeks with a potential disadvantage to that player. My rather longwinded point is could there be a default position with chests so that you don't have 2 in the same town at the same time that need units brought to them? One that needs units is fair enough but if the other could be finding items then it keeps the interest up. I would be interested in opinions on this.

I agree with Thor but I will also add that some chests involve huge amounts of effort and resources, and a LOT of the time, the contents are not worth the effort!

I had one chest in a hero home town across a chasm, I had to do research first (can't remember what now) and use a huge amount of resources to build a bridge over the chasm - and my reward - a basic wooden shield,  hmmm I was less than impressed!

I agree having to bring Cats or rams to open a chest should be changed. Not everyone builds these units. They are slow to move from town to town and very burdensome. Chests should be opened with units every player uses like Archers or by finding all the elements like clovers.

I agree too - I have for more than a month in my towns several chests opened by 10 catapults and I don't open them because: 1. I don't need catapults, because I do not intend to destroy somebody else's buildings; 2. Building catapults takes too much time and resources; 3. I don't expect to find something of interest for me (at this stage of my game) in the chests.

It is such a waste - I had spent too much time and too much resources, built a lot of military buildings I don't need so as to find several science points that do not make any difference at all, or items that can be useful for players that want to attack their neighbors. Maybe it is possible at least to give us the opportunity to destroy such chests without opening.

Ok, I give up :) There will be no rams or catapults in alpha 4 chest requirements.

Bers you are a star. We are only making suggestions to make the game as good as possible for everyone. Is it possible in one town at the same time to only ever have 1 chest that needs units and the other finding things as that is much more fun?

It is possible, but I don't think I am going to implement it. After cats and rams will be removed from requirements, bringing other units won't be as bad of a requirement.
