Depends on the animal.

The Foxes (I always see them as vixens) are Scouts, just like Explorers but a bit slower. You deploy them from the same button, and can combine them into sets of 5 or 9 w/o regard to species. Same w/ the Penguins, except that they can explore both land and (shallow) Sea cells, and pass thru either or both on the way to the target.

The Monkeys function as Spies.

All of them function as soldiers (as indeed do Explorers and Spies) against land units if they're caught by an attack on your town, or if you're fool enough to let them join your monster-hunting army. Of the animals I know, only the porcupines can attack naval units.

where do you find the food to tame them?  I have fox, but can't find eggs

You get one egg per birds' nest found. Nests are found like acorn clusters (nuts) and beech nuts in trees.

Reportedly (not of my own knowledge): Polar Bear -----------> 10 identical fish.

Perhaps also 10 identical meat or other foods, but as of now only fish are reasonably easy to assemble.

Did you place it on the penguin? or in the black hole?

I put the fish on the penguin and it did not take it.  The fish ended up in inventory.  I did this twice.

Your hero needs to be at that location, check this first

Make sure you talk to the penguin first, then when you give the fish, it will ask you if you want to use it - if you get that message, say no, this means the penguin did not get it.  I had to try twice, then the penguin got it.

Iguana - but not present in this climat. The only one you can see in this alpha is in Karfaree.

You will need them tho, so keep collecting :-)

OK, it seems is not an iguana, but an aligator in Karfaree...and as far as I remember i gaved it a fly to feed it ( even if normally a rotten meat must be gived )

they are gained by having a person you invite reach a certain milestone. You cannot tame them.

I'm wondering where I might find rotten meat.  I got regular meat in OH, and ended up feeding it to the lion in Karfaree. Haven't seen any rotten meat, yet though.

Butcher, will give you rotten meat, if you wait long enough, to collect.

wait till level say 20 or so, and collect as many as you can they are rare to find, you need 5 of them for the Elephants.
