The closed alpha test has begun!

The closed alpha test has begun!

I has begun.

We've came a long road up to this moment of truth and now we are proud to announce that first people were invited to take part into closed alpha test of Totem Tribe II: Jotun.

The game is pretty rough and has LOADS of bugs, but letting real people in will help us to locate and find those bugs. The game is not by any means represent the final product at this moment, so if you got the invite and not ready for bumpy ride and want smooth gaming experience - PLEASE WAIT at least until beta.

To those who really wanted by haven't got the invite yet - don't worry, we will invite you as soon as technical possibility will allow. We can only let people carefully one by one to gauge the load on the server. Letting too many people too soon will complicate the testing process.

The current alpha version of the game have a lot of limitations. Some of the most notable ones are:

  • Story mode is limited only to Tutorial which is about 2 hours long (depends on how you play it)
  • We have only first two ages available - Dark Age and Stone Age.
  • Possible game resolutions is limited only to a low ones for now.
  • You can only start in Nothern or Southern Graasslands - other climate zones are not ready yet.
  • A lot of features are not implemented or roughly implemented - they will be improved and implemented over time.
  • World map is pretty small - since the alpha-test stage will not involve too many people.

If you were one of the invited people, please start up with this tester suvey where you will get instructions on how to proceed.

If you weren't invited, we are really sorry, but you will have to wait. Thank you for understanding.

We have uploaded an update that has some bugs fixed, including (hopefully) that bug with resolution so those people who are stuck with 800 x 600 please try it out and let us know if it helped.

Okay, now that I found Zweistein and convinced him to join my tribe I don't know what to do next. Do I have to find another advisor ? I think I need a hint. ;) Oh, I forgot: I found a green door with 5 locks, but only have four keys...(see I definitely need a hint! *lol*)

Ohhhhhh I got it!!!! looks like it is going to take 2 hours to download really? 2 hours. I have a high speed connection too.

My download has been nearly 5 hours! -.- My boyfriend is so irritated with me because I keep jumping up to check the downloader. I just can't sit still, lol.

I do have to say (and I'm sorry if this upsets some people cause it's not my intention)... I'm surprised at the diversity of the maps.  I've restarted a couple of times and even though the tutorial is the same, the maps have different side tasks to do.  I know Berserker has said many times about the re-playability of this game but I just didn't realise how that would play out.  Well done!

Well, the tutorial map has only few random places with random obstacles and random rewards, We will have way more random content added later.

I have a question about the game "interface".  When the game is launched will we have the option to collapse the task menu at the bottom of the screen.  Because I'm playing on a laptop I get the 2 black bars/strips down either side of the screen which makes the playing screen smaller and then the quest/ task menu comes about a third of the way up from the bottom of the screen which makes the viewable playing area quite small so I am doing a lot of screen dragging which is a bit annoying :(

We have just uploaded another update which fixes various bugs including (hopefully) the resolution problem. Those people who stuck at 800x600 please try it and let us know if it helps.

You probably have this resolution problem too. Go to options and try to switch resolution from 800x600 to something bigger like 1366 x 768

I think she is talking about the lower case, it is too big, you should have the option to collapse it, I also think the actual view of the game is impaired by it and I don't have a problem with the resolution.

I think that all the bars, options, inventory, map case, etc should be as small as possible and reduced to minimum or to be able to hide them, in order to enjoy the game fully.

It is out : YEEY

Have been waiting two years for this , ever since i played the original.

I love to see how this game has developed and even if its just in alpha stage: i dont care.

Seeing the game grow under Support is much fun. I actually dont get you're making it look so bad in your text on testing.

But if you read this : PLEASE set me on the list for testing

vivia, the resolution is important, becuase at higher resolutions the bottom part of the interfaces is smaller vs the playable part and it becomes less of an issue. At 800 x 600 it's so big that it is almost unplayable, but it's a backward compatibility mode. I think any computer or laptop purchased in last 10 years supports at least 1024 x 760.

The most common resolution on laptops is 1366 x 768
