Warning about being hacked

Sorry, if I am wrong here. Cannot find a proper answer. This evening I had again a 'loss of contact with a server' message. As soon as I logged in again I saw a warning about something with a Phone number and something about being hacked. Unfortunately no explanation. Can someone please tell me what this message is about? Because if hacking is a possibility I am not sure if I want to continue playing. (by the way love the game, the scenery, but want to play solo, but that is another thread ;) ).

It i just Enkords security asking for a cell phone number to send you a code. I wish they could send you something via email. I am old school.

It is hard to explain things that you refer to as "something". Be more specific and I will gladly explain.

sorry that was just silly of me, how long does it take to get the code when you put in the cell number? I guess that is what makes me delay doing it cause I do not want to have to wait a long time for a code.

Is this your first online game? Stealing accounts is happening in every online game. And it is not hacking, it is just some people asking naive young kids for their account information in exchange for in game currency or making them download a program that will see what they type when logging in.

The only ways are these:

--You give the "hacker" your account information by yourself because he promised you free in game currency, but he needs your account information to do so.

--The thief was an in-game friend and you trusted him and gave him your account information.

--A site is promising free in-game currency but it needs your account information to do so.

--You download a program that promised free in-game currency, which is actually a keylogger and is going to read what you type when you log in.

And there are the real hackers that can do other things, but you dont have to worry about them since they target rich in-game accounts to sell them for money. And they only exist in very big games.

Even if someone could enter in your account, it would be useless to him since he needs to answer the secret questions and type account's owner real name every time he wants to make a change to password, or log into the game, every time you enter the game from a different location, it will ask for your secret question.

TL;DR: The game is secure, it will ask for secret question question and real name every time a change is made. If you dont give those information to anyone, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Having your account stolen happens mostly to naive kids.

To add to the above - the game asks to attach cell phone number to improve the security even more. You don't have to do that, but if you dontated significant amount of money to the game, it is highly recommended to do so, because your account is valuable and it will be a pain to loose it. We do not send any SMS to that number unless you will try to use it to recover your game account.

It really varies. Sometimes it is almost instant and sometimes it may take a long time like 15-20 minutes. However you don't have to sit and wait in front of your computer. Just keep the page where it prompts for the code open and minimize it and do your thing until you will receive the code.

Great information Arthas - even for those of us who do not experience these issues. Quite informative. Thank you.

Arthas & Berserker, thanks for the information. Yes, this is my first online game. So I am learning. Forgive me for asking stupid questions. It probably will not be my last one :)

I do not intent to give anyone admission to my account because they are friendly. Next time the message pops up I hope I will be able to read the message completely. I just saw the message, reached for my mouse and the message was gone, so I kinda freaked.

I did give an small donation, because I think it is fair to do so. I do not have the big bucks. I have just started playing this game because I loved TT & TTG. I would like this game to develop into something everyone loves, whether you like multi-playing or like me solo-playing.

Like you, I was uncomfortable with the multi-player aspect of this game at first. Now, I don't think I would enjoy the game half as much without it.

I love all of the other players. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Even those that we war against and really nice people. And it is wonderful when you get stuck on something, to have so many who are willing to help you out.

Please give us some time, to get to know you and I am sure that you will also love the online gaming community in the game.

Bers has done so much to make this such an enjoyable experience for all of us.

I just registered today and attempted to donate money through SuperRewards. It seemed to go through and said it was verified by VISA. But it was a blank page with no other information on it. If it went through, then why don't I have any Enkord money showing on my account. This is very frustrating because now I don't know if my credit went through or not. It's like it's in limbo. I donated $50 that I cannot afford to lose.
