Private chat

I searched the forum, but couldn't find an answer how to easily contact a friend and open a private chat with him/her. The hint in thread "Game tips and hints" to use /w command is not working, at least for me. And if someone of my friends does not appear in Common chat (which since yesterday will hardly happen every day) or doesn't ask me for help, I have no way to PM him/her.

Yesterday there was such a question in Common chat but nobody answered.

Please, if somebody knows another way to open Private chat window, share it.

I also have been trying to figure out how to contact friends , it seems like they should have a place you could view them and instantly chat if needed without waiting on them to ask for help

I believe the devs said they're still working on the in-game friend list and its not complete at the moment.

If you click on the green button here on forums (at the top of page) it takes you to a screen where you will see..friends. Find the friends name and you can contact them from here! Hope this helps :)

Yes, but there instructions to invite someone to be a friend?  I clicked on that big green thing with my Hero's pic on it, but saw nothing to help.  One player PM'd me with assistance on a question I had in Chat and said he friended me but I have no clue how to see that or to see how to PM a neighbor.  Somehow, I somehow PM'd the neighbor, but was unable to replicate it a second time.  In Chat I was told to click on the white icon in upper corner, but could see nothing there that helped.  It seems so easy for others and I have looked thru the Forum, but have not seen instructions.  It seems that a year ago, no friending was available, but obviously there is now.  Sure hope someone can help.

Forgot, use the "w/Hero" name where?

To PM a neighbor, click on any of their towns then click at their name this will open their hero information window, then click the speech bubble on bottom left of the new pop up window.

Currently there is no friend list added, to add someone in your friends, both of you have to add each other through hero information window, that pops up when u right click on someone's name in chat. When u ask your friends for construction speed up something like a friend list will pop up that will show who is online.

To open someone's hero info window and then PM them, u can use this command: "/whois heroname@number" u only have to remember their hero name, and type numbers starting from 1 then going higher if u dont remember their @number.

Well this is going to sound silly for you experienced players, but I don't know how to get into common chat, I have never been in a chat room before so I am without a clue.

common chat is what you see when you are playing.  it's where you get your announcements about storage, etc.  So, all you need do is type in the space provided below the chat window and hit enter and your comment will appear.  :-)

for private chat you have to right click on the hero name of the person with whom you wish to chat and click on the little button at the bottom left of that hero screen and you will have a window open to send them a private message.  the button is a chat bubble button next to the magnifying glass button for finding towns.

thank you I tried to do that common chat thing to wish tt2 happy birthday but my words were all grey in chat did it go through? the reason I ask is because everybodys words are yellow but not mine. sorry.

Your own chat is always grey. So yay! you did it right  :)
