30% fighting power?

It seems my army is very weak against in game enemies. If you have the politics set to collectivism does that mean you only have 30% fighting power against ALL enemies? It seems counterproductive as the point of collectivism is to let users play the game sort of solo.

No, collectivism does not affect monsters, they fight at full power. If you have trouble it means your army is too small/weak. Train more units.

In which case the difficulties are waaay off. My army of 5 braves, 7 hunters, 2 witch doctors and hero gets completely wiped out by 2 skeletons.

You are rushing to much. Gromus said come to find him when you have built up and are ready. Not the minute he leaves. All of the new players just want to rush.

If all the players are rushing too much it kind of indicates that the game is too slow then....Everyone is rushing because otherwise the game is deadly dull and just a city build simulation.

Did you actually play the original game? I found it to be much more then a city build simulation but with out building up you city you just had to restart the island after you were killed

Are you sure those were 2 skeletons and not more? 2 skeletons sounds like a bit harsh.

Yep, played and loved the original and the gold version both several times. The difference being that you could build an entire city in about 5 mins in those games whereas it takes several hours to upgrade one building and you can only do one at a time here without using consumables. In the offline versions the quests were much more proportional to the amount of time you spent building and growing your army and workers. Here I feel it is quickly becoming like many of the other online grind games.

Yep, pretty sure it was two, got wiped out on several occasions by very small numbers of attackers against my much larger army. Even allowing for greater power on their part it seems a raw deal.

I will check your account when we will launch the server back, there should be reports. As for the quests - in this stage of the game only very small portion of them are implemented. I would say only 1-2% of quests. We focus on sandbox mechanic more, because it last much longer to beat. With quests, no matter how many you make them, they can be beaten pretty fast and you will have nothing else to do. Sure, quests provide higher grade of excitement, but they are also very long to make. So it is like we are making new quest location for a month, then you beat it for a day at most and have nothing left to do, while adding new age might require us roughly the same time and you will be beating it for a 1-2 months. This does not mean we will not be adding more quests, but this explains why there are progress blockers like stone required for wade or bigger army required to beat certain places. That is to prevent you from beating the quest part too soon.

This game is in development. I agree everybody is rushing - to be added as players - but then forget that this is Alpha....  many facets of the game are not yet available.

If you played TTG then I guess you remember Skeleton Island - enemies coming from several places at the same time on the map and fighting your army and destroying your town at the same time. One thing I do remember about that game is that I needed to build a substantial army before I went venturing out on the island to find what lived there .. or I was wiped out. Sometimes they came looking for me and did not wait for me to complete my army. I was building and they were destroying. Go back and try beating Skeleton Island or Beetle Island with 12 warriors in your army. The concept there was actually the same as this game - build a substantial army with a good variety of fighters if you want to beat the quest.

No I completely understand that it's in development. If there are a lot more quests to implement then that would even out the quest/building time issue a lot. I think one of the big issues I have with the fighting is the actual mechanism. If I remember correctly on the previous games you could draw out the enemy by making them chase you and fight them off a few at a time. With this one it's all or nothing which makes fighting off even relatively small numbers of  enemies much harder and I feel less planning/skill is required. Actually this method is less fun in my opinion.

Unfortunately the fact that this game is online prohibits from implementing troop control in battle like in original Totem Tribe, because sometimes you can send troops to attack other player and have no access to them when they fight. They may even fight when you are offline.

To compensate for that we made a more strategic approach. Now it matters not how you fight, but what units you select in order to face the enemy. The units and their proportions makes them behave differently in battle. We have a detailed replay of the battle in report so you can see how units behaved in battle, analyze it and make conclusions to fight each time. Sure, the interface is clumsy right now, but that information is there for those who interested.

BTW, I have checked your reports and those were not 2 skeletons but 5 and 3 of them were defeated by your army before they dies. However I think maybe skeletons are a little bit too hard, I will make monsters weaker a little bit in the next update, but still you need to train bigger army.

Ah ok, so perhaps have a training camp or similar where you can go and get all the information you just gave about battles? It's great having it in a tutorial but you never really understand the mechanisms until you have played a bit and so don't take a lot of it in. The fighting is different enough from previous versions of the game that it something like a replayable training mission where you didn't actually lose troops if they died would be really appreciated.

Btw thank you for taking the time to answer all of this so fully!
