Alliance levy Feedback

The system of alliance levy has been around for quite some time now, I'd like to give some feedback on it.

To begin with, it is a very nice system for cooperation within an alliance. Some key moments during which you want to set a levy are for example

  • During wars, to rebuild one's army
  • When constructing a new town, and we need resources quickly to build towers.
  • I believe some other future uses could also include help for building the wonder of the world, etc.

Now some limitations which are a bit annoying :

  • Only possible to set one town as levy target. But the storage tends to fill quite quickly, especially if the levy is set just before the target player goes away. We are all playing on different time slots, it's not always possible to synchronize the delivery with the actual usage of the resources... Maybe the player who is being targeted by the levy could "move" the levy target to another one of his towns without resetting/starting another levy
  • Resource type preference. It should be possible to indicate to the players which resources we need/we can hold. For example, the alliance levy button could show how many resources the destination has/can hold, even if just as %
  • A small accompanying message explaining the reason for the levy would be nice. Of course it's possible to just say it in the alliance chat, but it will quickly get buried. The best would be to display this message when alliance members click the "levy" button on their market. This could also solve the previous bullet point.
  • Upgrading the alliance building for more player slots
  • Cumulative levy paid in the alliance tab. So treasurers can have a global overview of who paid the taxes over more than just the current levy. And why not also compute a % from this. Note that this shouldn't let players send more resources if they have "missed" one levy.
Note that people giving on holidays should also be given special status in this case.

Again, I am quite pleased with the current system, you did a nice job, and my above bullet points merely suggest some improvements that can be made in the (most likely very far) future. I believe you are quite busy with Karfaree right now :)

This is my first posting on here as I've only been playing about 2 weeks now and this seems like a good thread for what I'm trying to suggest. Here is one problem with regards to the levy system that could probably easily resolved with nothing more then a simple spreadsheet. From time to time players will be attacked and will be needing resources in order to rebuild or so this is the purpose of the levy system. Problem is there is no way implemented at least not yet in order to keep what is alliance reserves separate from a players normal resource stockage.  The problem is which ever player is maintain the reserves for the alliance doesn't have a way to keep from using the alliance resources from their own resources. I've played quite a few mmo games for about ten years now and it would seem the issue could easily be resolved with a spread sheet or virtual alliance bank account which policies could be implemented by the alliance admin as far issuing of those resources in times of need. Some of the more experienced mmo players on here know what I mean. Demands on those resources fluctuate and yes levies and contributions can be used to replenish them but at the times when hardly anyone in an alliance is getting attacked the resouces are not being consumed therefore not much of a need for levies during the slow season.

Yes I like the idea of having a "bank" to be able to pull from the treasurer/leader could be in charge of it.

I also want to point out that the best place to call for a levy is a Harbor town, that way either land or ship will count.

Also good for better security. It doesn't have to be physically stored on the game board from a programing perspective. So you don't have to worry about having to increase security with troops just because some attacker may get lucky and hit your reserves town. It also means the alliance isn't totally dependent on when the owner of the town is around in emergencies. I have seen some good set ups guild vaults, clan or alliance banks what ever you want to call them. This game has alliances ....so alliance vault or bank.

Since posting I had several people ask me what an mmo is as this is their first experience with one. It's the initials for massive multiplayer online game for those that didn't know. I'm sure the developers are glad you chose this game as your first experience. Wait til grows to more then one server. From my perspective I loved the original totem tribe and from what I can tell this game shows promise if even still in beta.
