Until the next alpha I'm playing other games in the meantime, but really I can't find any other game were the community is as peaceful as this one (well except a few people), basically, any single game on steam have an horrible community and when censorship is activated, it's very rare to play 10 minutes without seeing "****". Any suggestion ?

I have to remind that advertisement of other games is prohibited here: http://www.totemtribe.com/game/rules/ However I will let this thread live because I am interested in figuring out about those games myself to maybe learn from their community management as having community to stay nice and not becoming toxic is a very hard task. One condition though - people should not post links, only game names. (We don't have private messages here for the same reason, 99% of private messages on the old forum were advertisements and spam).

A very good example for well structured forum and rules for the player community, imo, is Farmerama.

I think the community in this game is very well managed and a great group. :-) I don't play other online games so I can't compare it to other game communities, but being a moderator on a message board, I have seen some pretty nasty trolling attempts elsewhere. I have to commend the developers and the players for being a civil lot on the whole. :-)

I absolutely loved faunasphere - great idea, great game mechanics and collaborative goals/quests (continously added...) which contributed to a wonderful community. Guess what? They took it down... I think it was maybe too complex, right now mmos go either into very simple farm/time management or simple pvp where it's hard to get a nice atmosphere.

I have to agree with Diana-----we have had our moments since we started but I must say that this is shaping up nicely. I have tried one other pvp game since playing this one and I was not impressed. Good going Ber's and company and thank you!

hi gozni, i play 'the settlers online' ... people are civil, and PVP is a separate and optional activity in the game

I tried the settlers online, indeed the community is nice, but for some reasons I don't feel like playing it very seriously, probably because it involves a lot of basic math calculations that I did already in a similar game. How is the pvp also ? Personally I like how dangerous it is in totem tribe, that you can actually loose many buildings (it's just not fair when you can't do much about it when attacked the night), how is it in that game, is it just about loosing a few resources ? If so I don't like it much, in backyard monsters that was ridiculous : I could attack someone with 20 more bases than me to steal millions resources in a single attack while him had to attack me back 20 times in 3 weeks to get them back, during which time I could attack again, I was basically a parasite.

Agreed, and we are actually aware of the issue. Here is the discussion of possible solution, you may want to share your input: http://www.totemtribe.com/talk/survey-protection-for-cities-after-siege/

No that's not exactly the same: during the time someone is playing, I think it's rather normal that even after a big attack one can still receive other big attacks. What I meant is that when attacked when someone isn't playing, one can't make best choices, evacuate resources, bring or evacuate units, use power ups etc, and catacombs does not fix this, especially since it's available only after a few ages and require resources and time to be built. In that thread though, people against such mechanism seem more sadistic than in search of adrenaline.

The attacks when you are not playing is the most deadly when done by neighbor who is very close to your and can attack very often which I have tried to address in the first place.
