I am in the classical age with my residence lvl 10 and discovered that my gathering point has reached the final possible level (at this stage) and I have 10 settlers the max allowed from it. In order to build my next town it says that I need to expand by 30 squares or have 10 more settlers. The gathering point is not available in Classical only stone age and requires level 10 chieftains hut - do I really have to destroy a residence and start again with chieftains after all my hard work not to mention expense? You should surely be allowed to build a gathering point from a level 10 residence???

But there is no way to do it - and I don't want to knock it down - it is so pretty!

I do not understand your issue there is only one gathering point if you have it you can't build another, it only allows 10 settlers. You will need to grow if you do not have enough. You could try to dismiss your settlers and train classical age ones if you have researched that but they are in the same gathering point.

Do you mean delete the stone age gathering point? will it then allow a new gathering point in the classical age? I want to train more than 10 settlers. Can I do this in multiple towns or am I limited to only 10 settlers in my primary town? I have other classical age towns but still no option to build a classical age gathering point.

Don't knock the GP down just dismiss all of your stone age settlers and train classical age ones instead. Also every town you have will tell you how many settler from that town ONLY you will need to settle a new town. You do not need to have a GP in every town either, just like you don't need to have an altar/temple in every town. The amount of settlers you need to start a new one depends on the amount of cells you have in your domain. Also I had a bug in my second town where I built a residence instead of a promoted residence from Stone Age chieftan hut and I couldn't build the GP as it requires a level 10 Chieftan Hut.

There is no "classic age gathering point". At this time we have only one kind of gathering point. However, there are two kinds of settlers which can be trained. The classic age settler does allow you to need less settlers than the stone age settler in order to create a new town. The classic age settler can only be trained if you have researched Aesthetics.
The alternative to having settlers is expansion.... just as the game tells you. Either create more settlers OR expand your domain. There are no shortcuts available :). You need to have a combination of settlers and also enough cells in your domain in order to be able to expand. This is not a simple task and most of us work quite hard at getting the requirements completed.

I agree with Simba. Expansion takes time and effort. I have not had any problems building a gathering point with a level 10 Residence. In fact I just built one yesterday after upgrading my Residence to level 10. It was not a promoted Chieftain Hut but was, in fact, a Residence built from scratch.
