Hi

I'm stuck in a mine. I've got to a part where there are some gates which I can't see a way through. There are some mine carts and a couple have moved when I clicked on them but now nothing is happening

Can someone give some hints on what I am looking for here please?

It's a mine - I've worked out that its a spot the difference puzzle so sorted that but are now so confused with a steam puzzle

I've read a couple of explanations on here but I am still stuck. Is it like a beacon puzzle where I just need to make a simple path and all the rest of the vents stay closed?

I'm also not clear on which way those T's should face

If you search "steam puzzle" in the search function for the forum you will get lots of entries.  Some have hints on how to solve the puzzles.  :-)

I've already done that and I'm still confused as to how to solve it. If it's like a beacon puzzle then I have worked out a direct path from the boiler to the steam machine but I don't understand how the T pieces have to face. I've tried various ways and that's done nothing.

Do all the other vents have to be closed?

SPOILER ALERT

Yes all vents that are not used along the path from the boiler to the engine have to be closed and showing the flat surface so it is best to close all first and as you are walking round the room closing them mark the position of all the valves, the boiler and the engine on a 10 x 10 square grid on a piece of paper, this will make things much easier to see.

Every valve that is used has to have a valve on each side of it, one pipe has to face back along the route from the boiler, one pipe facing forwards along the path to the engine and the 3rd pipe is blocked off thus ensuring that the route is sealed and no steam can escape. This tells you exactly which of these positions,  ""|""   _|_   ---|    |---  each valve should be placed in.

What about pipes near walls? Can the 3rd pipe face wall- thus the steam will be blocked?

No the third pipe  cannot face the wall, every valve used must have a valve either side of it

So cornered pipes must always be closed..

Thank you very much!
