My Issue with Chests

Ok, so I absolutely LOVE opening the chests in my towns....it's like opening up a present each time because you never know what you're going to get.  Sometimes it's something good, sometimes it's not so good, but it's always a surprise and that's cool. 

I know there has been a lot of chatter about how pitiful some of the items in the chest are, or the outrageous requirements for some of the higher level hero chests. 

However, my problem is a bit simpler and it has to do when a hero enters a brand new age.  My second hero, has just yesterday entered in the Medieval age, after researching Education.  YAY!  But TODAY, i get a chest in my town requiring 20 Bards to open.  WHAT??  I am literally weeks away from researching the tech that will give me Bards.  This means this chest will be sitting in my town for weeks.  The same thing has happened to my first hero who has been in Medieval age for about two weeks now, but still has chests just sitting and waiting to be opened since i started medieval age because i need crossbowmen, artistes, bards and spearmen to open them.  Since research in medieval age takes a long time, i am still weeks away from opening some of these chests.  So they will continue to sit. 

I understand that the requirements are 'random' once you enter an age, but is it too much to ask that you have at least the required tech reasearched before being asked for these units to open chests?

I have a chest in Diana's domain requiring 50,000 stone.  Without sheep there is no way I will ever reach that amount of stone so it will remain in town forever unopened. 

Perhaps there can be a way to destroy a chest that cannot be opened, such as that one or Lilah's with the hidden turtle shell, to make way for a new chest?

+1. At the very beginning of medieval I got chests asking for bards, then artistes and spearmen. At the very beginning of classical I had chests asking for centurions. It doesn't make sense - in my 3 cities I have only 1 "open" chest slot and I'm past halfway in medieval research. Similar thing was in classical age - for most of it half of the chests could have as well been non existent. Nearing the end of the age I managed to open them but then shortly I switched to medieval and again, all chests but one are unusable. If the game was fully implemented, I expect that a week after opening all of them I would switch to new age and again most of them would be gone.

I have nothing against waiting for some time to reach something - like waiting to find the right tools in the main city to reach certain areas. But if you add chests that supposedly appear as often as every second day you shouldn't have to wait a month to open them. As they are now, I'd rather they weren't there - they are simply irritating.
