Politics/Domain questions

Like most (all?) new players I selected Collectivism for my politics option. Lately I've been eyeballing my neighbors property and wouldn't mind taking it over. The penalty for changing politics seems awfully steep, does anyone actually go through that pain? I did a test run to see how bad things would go attacking with Collectivism, and oofta!

The neighbor in the picture seldom plays, seems like it's just enough to keep the town from being wiped off the map from inactivity. I would like to settle a town to the right of the sheep pen to give water access. It doesn't seem like I can accomplish this purely with a cultural takeover. They also are using Collectivism, so I can't simply destroy their town. My question is if I were to employ enough siege engines, would their culture be reduced enough that I could envelope their town to get access to the spot I want to build on?

Many do change politics and undergo anarchy. It is an expensive process so I do not recommend for a player to do it often. If you are seeking to find how to destroy a neighbor, there are quite a few forum posts on the subject. However, I can tell you that being a collectivism hero, it is much more difficult a task. Different siege have different purposes in destruction. The descriptions in tech menu will give you a better idea of what each one does.

If you do decide to switch politics, I wish you good luck, and have fun discovering the new experience of leaderism.

There is a more easy way - just ask some Lederism player to attack your neighbor :-))
