I started playing towards the end of the last alpha so never got out of classical.
Complete reset, fantastic I thought, at least I will now be competitive with those that have been playing for a number of alpha's. However I must say that as time goes on I am becoming discouraged by the big differences we are seeing already.
I appreciate there's a pay to play element involved here (which sometimes seem strange for a game in development to be honest) and this is something I can get behind. It gives the opportunity for those that don't have lots of time to speed up their game play. However I am concerned that it is moving from pay to play to pay to progress ( to get new content for those that play against the game or to be competitive for those that PVP).
The progression for hero's, research and town building feels really slow without throwing some cash at it. So it is also affecting those that enjoy playing against the game not just against other players. And just to be clear I am happy to hit other's towns and won't cry (too much) if I am hit.
This can't be an easy balance to find but in a game like this where progression is so important I personally feel the balance is out. Do I have enough to make me want to log in every day? At the moment waiting for research, for mobs to respawn, for houses to build......it feels like a lot of waiting.
What does everyone else think?
