Reducing the attack of the Sages is fine but now how about reducing the population of the Sage Tower so they don't eat so much food. I think that would only be fair since the Sages aren't so powerful anymore :)

Lowing the building requirements in towers would be good of you then. Including the time required to build the towers and houses. Takes way too long and they eat more than I do, way too much.

Yeah I agree .takes way too much time to upgrade all the houses and towers to max level and there are too many of them. Please do something

I for one will be stopping playing the game if this is the sort of thing that is going to keep happening. Maybe experienced players don't find the fighting challenging enough but progress is very slow for newer players, this just slows it down even further.

I don't have a problem with balancing a game to make the player against the game engaging. However until I got sages I didn't enjoy fighting the mobs. After 60 days of researching and building I finally get them; start to make some progress levels wise and then they are nerfed. But not just nerfed, the nerfbat knocks them back by 25%! No consultation, no dropping it by 5% at a time until we get the level we want. Just bang! No explanation of the thinking behind it and why this will make the game better. We just have to toughen up and get on with it. The comment on CC from Bers that a top player told him to nerf the sages makes it feel even more of a kick in the teeth for those of us who would like to progress to be a top player, with all theiradvantages. Its slow enough progressing in this game. I am rapidly reaching the point where the frustration will overcome the fun and that will be an end to it. Its the great people I've met that keep me coming back, and I don't just mean the people in my alliance. Their help and support and laughs make this game for me. What about consulting with the player base? We play this game every day. Listening to the elite players make sense as they have been with the game the longest but the rest of us are affected and we have opinions too.

I agree BrotherZeb, well said. I would also add that it was hard enough to kill dragons will 4 full power sages, I'm not sure how I will manage it now. Maybe the whole point is for us to have to have more of them. Either way, I'm with you, it stinks.

I have been here since A3 and every alpha I look forward to having the sages so I can kick some butt! It is bad enough that we lose sages in Renaissance, but to have their attack power reduced, is even worse. I hope the devs will at least consider to up the weapon upgrade of the sages to compensate somewhat. Furthermore, I would be very interested to know what the thinking is behind lowering their attacks!

I never even build sages :) so I am not affected by this change. I do not think they are so great and have no issues with their power being reduced. Many ways to kill monsters and Sages are not the be all end all of units. It was not me who said they needed to be reduced.

I must say I am very disappointed in the reduction of the sages and can see no reason for it. I too have been playing since A3 and I only started using them last alpha and thought what a fantastic addition they were.

I can only assume the reason behind it would be that bers thinks players are killing monsters too easy and getting more items and experience faster and free. It really seems that this game is turning more into a pay to play, as the alphas go you will start to crawl like a slug unless you pay cash. Personally I think it will kill the game but that's just my opinion.

I have to agree with you. The recent changes to the den spawning times and this change to the sages will not hurt players who use money to cut the levelling up times by half and that just slows them down. Players who use no money will take much longer to level up and get discouraged IMO. At this point we are not able to decide on our army formation so we can't place units where we want them and where they will do the most good while incurring the least amount of damage. Sure, we can sort of dictate the formation with the units chosen and the numbers but the computer decides where to place them. I've seen range four units in the second column with a range 1 behind them which I would not choose to do on my own. Maybe, when we can manually determine the formation it will be easier for players to get through the mob dens with or without sages. At this point, however, I have to agree with dBarns on the negative effect this nerfing has on many of those playing in a general sense. I've also noticed that the spawning times for in-town mobs has changed. I've fought mobs and cleared out what I could and have not had any new mobs spawn to fill those empty mob slots in more than one week, sometimes two.

I am a big sage fan, he is my favorite character in all the game, and a bit disappointed that the strength has been decreased by such a large amount. Maybe some player decided our hero leveling is too fast? or the caves have become too manageable? To build a sage I must first choose NOT to build the alternative five chariots. The requirements to build the sage towers are stiff and once I get there, I get .. what? One lone sage. Then I must upgrade him in armor and weapons - otherwise all I have is a rather sad and weak fellow for all my work. I guess from here on I will just opt for the five chariots.

I agree with everything written above (except Tuey's post - as long as she wasn't concerned by that change). Berserker, making such a radical change just because ONE top player told you to do it, is not fair for all the other hundreds of players testing your game...Until getting rennaissance and industrial units, sages were the only units able to fight correctly monsters in order to help players to get experience to level up. They are hard to be obtained and very costly... and without them, paying for the items will be the only way to advance in the game in order to be more competitive. Reducing sages' power will create an even bigger gap between normal players and heavy donators ( or peoples who gonna pay when the game will be released) . Those normal players will be just even more slow and they will be just the punching ball for the big players. Maybe is your intention considering the way how the game goes on now... Just keep in mind that gamers community is spreaded all over the world, all over douzens of websites...players testing this game are the best ambassadors for your game ...or not !

Its not just the sages, but numerous things that have changed. I think the general players being watched are the donator players. I really think the dev team should focus on the free playing testers. If a person playing for free takes 3+ months to reach industrial age vs a cash player reaching it in a month then you can not call it a balanced game and that IS pay to win.

As far as I have seen pay to win is the death of online games. You need a good community of players to make an online game live. This game already has a decent community with some great characters. Nurturing that community should be the dev's focus and that means communication so this game can become the best. You guys need us.

Clash of Clans has pay-to-win, and look how much money they make and how many people still play. In fact, it's the same model as this game. Technically, you can pay in Clash of Clans only to make progress faster, but, as dbarns said, at some point, you have to compare a paying vs non-paying player.

I couldn't agree more. Also, you have to have in mind than free to play players need to fight a lot of monsters to have the chance to win some figurines. Reducing the attack of the sages will not only make harder to get experience but also to level up. Honestly I don't see how this change could benefit to any player at all. But if you decide to keep sages this way, I hope like others have said before, than at least you will reduce the requirements to have sages or you increase the number of sages per tower.
