Is this a bug in the Tessla puzzle, or are there rules I do not understand? I worked out the solution to a Tessla puzzle on paper. Put in a bulb and it exploded. (link in case picture not showing since it does not show in preview) https://imgur.com/a/wXsvu
So, I worked out a second solution because obviously my first one was wrong. Can someone explain the rules? Am I missing some? Solution one is at the top of the page. Alternate solution is below. It may also be wrong, but I wasn't willing to make more alternate options since I will be starting over again. link in case picture not showing https://imgur.com/a/iLBOE

From what I can see, it looks like in your first solution, 2 boxes would not have been lit ... 2nd row up, 5th box from the left, and 6th row up, again the 5th box from the left. When a bulb bursts, it doesn't mean that *that* bulb is breaking one of the "rules" - it means that by placing that bulb there, it is then impossible for all of the other bulbs to be placed in a way that will give a correct solution (in your puzzle, the burst bulb would have made it impossible to place the bulb needed in box 4 in the top row). So sometimes it's not immediately obvious why the bulb has burst. And yes, from what I can see your second solution would have been correct.

You are probably correct. Having a hard time with this puzzle. It feels like lots of guessing.

it is not guessing, It is more a case of, if I put it here, will "this" cell be lit and will i still be able to lit the other one? so it is more a case of eliminating certain cells, so it becomes obvious which cells are correct.

Yes - the Tesla puzzle is very logical, and usually you can find spots within the puzzle where there is no doubt about where a bulb must go. Once it is placed, it often helps you to know where another bulb must go. Occasionally it looks like you need to guess - that's when you need to look and plan a few more steps ahead before placing the bulb.
