What is the objective in Statue Puzzle

Statue Puzzle in Opposition Hideout. What is the objective?  I've been reading up on several posts regarding this puzzle, but I've yet to find what the objective is. i've just crossed the wade, and i'm now fishing for the fisherman, so haven't explored all of that section, so I don't know if there is anyone that explains it.

There is a road stone that says to light all the statues. That is the objective.

I have two more  questions, what triggers the Statue Puzzle?  There are no road stones saying the statues need to be lit up, and when I click on the statues they dont light up, I just get the little window saying Top Donator, ToDo etc

The second question is how do I dig inside the cave? Does that come later on or is there something lying around I need to pick up? 

I know I have a lot of questions but there are not a lot of hints in this game. 

Yes, the ability to dig is acquired later in the game .. but not too much later. :) If you would like to begin the statue puzzle you need to find/use all the numbers you find at the location. 

Thank you. I figured out the puzzle,  at least most of it. I have all the statues except one, lit up. 

Patience is not my greatest virtue, however lol
