All things Totem Tribe 2

All things Totem Tribe 2

To those who are not following our blog for the last year we would like to sum up key features of Totem Tribe 2 that were announced so far. This list is not comprehensive so it does not mean that there won't be any extra cool features announced in the future.
So here we go:
Game availability and price
  1. Totem Tribe 2 will be completely free to play - you will be able to complete full game without paying a single cent.
  2. There will be a shop for premium items which will make you gaming more enjoyable (this does not mean you experience won't be enjoyable without those items - the game will be very fun either way)
  3. The game will require constant internet connection in order to play. You don't need to have superfast or super-reliable connection - even cellular or dial-up will do (We had a lot of controversal around this one, but unfortunately this is the only way we could release TT2)
  4. The game will have multiplayer built in - you will be playing with all other people in one huge world and will be able to interact with them (trade, chat, attack). However interactions with other players are not required - you can play the game like original Totem Tribe in single-player fashion (although helping other players or them helping you right inside the game might be quite fun).
  5. There is no release date yet but we are working really hard to release closed alpha-version by the end of 2012 so it might be not that long to wait.
  6. The game will be released with limited number of features as fast as possible and then we will keep updating it. The game will grow in size in front of your eyes while you are playing it!

Gameplay changes
  1. Several type of resources will be introduced - food, lumber, stone, and so on. This is made to add more strategy to the game.
  2. You will have a customizable hero which will lead your exploration or fighting parties.
  3. Ships and naval warfare will be added
  4. Each and every building can be upgraded more than once (some of them even 10-20 times). This will keep you busy building your village for a long time if you decide to pursue this opportunity.
  5. Units will be individually upgradable too
  6. You will be able to transfer units and resources between locations, thus if you made a big army on one level, you can just take them to another level no problem.

Features
  1. Over hundred of different unit types in your village (not counting upgrades)
  2. Over two thousand different buildings if counting their upgraded versions (yes, we mean it!)
  3. Almost 200 different researches and technologies to unlock
  4. A world map which is MILLION times bigger than the world map in original Totem Tribe. This should have enough space for everyone who will decide to try the game out considering that all people play on the same world map.
  5. Randomized and generated content with non-linear decicsion making possibilities so that each run through the game could be different.
  6. Six completely different endings with number of variations in each. This will raise the number of possible endings up to dozens. Unlike original game which had 3 different endings and they basically were influenced by your end-game choices, in Totem Tribe 2 you will have to play differently right from the start in order to achieve different endings. (Like some other content all endings will be not available on first public release, but we will add them with updates over time).

And the best thing is - a lot of these features are pretty far into completion so we mean it when we say it.
Stay tuned for more info regarding the game ;)

undrgrndgirl, When you start the game you will be able to pick social system of your kingdom. Social system is basically a set of bonuses and drawbacks. One of those systems will increase defences of your villages by 300%, however will also decrease your attack power by the same rate. Therefore it will be unreasonable for most people to attack you, cause they will need 3 times more troops to do sustainable damage to you. Add some other stationary defences you can build and they might need 10x or 20x troops than you which is quite unreasonable - they might find an easier targets instead.

Or they could just camp out and put you under siege. :) The one week 'newbie protection' (as some MMOs might put it) is great, although what if you don't want to fight any PvP battles anyway?

If you really really against it (although there is nothing bad in them when you are prepared) there will be some items that can cast "truce" on your cities, preventing others from attacking you and you from attacking them, but those items have limited effect time. However I doubt you can completely avoid them, cause this way it will limit the interactivity factor of the game greatly. We will make sure you will have enough means to minimize the negative effect from being attacked, but attacks might still happen from time to time. You can just treat them as some story-scripted events that will keep you toned and always caring about your towns to make sure they are in the best shape all the time:) Being said that, the multiplayer part is not about battling other players all the time, that's boring. The multiplayer part will be more about social activity where people team up together to follow their common goal more easily. That goal ofcourse could be waging war against others, but also it can be defending together against others, making a trade alliance, or even helping each other with quests and storyline, much like on the forums on this site, but right inside the game where you can not only share advice, but also help with resources or troops to the friend in need.

This sounds like many hours of gaming fun. I want to be a beta tester. Seriously. I was a beta tester for another developer a few years back. Where do I sign up? :-)
