In-game chat improvements suggestion thread

Why not create both? A 'banter' chat room and also an invite only chat? The invite only would be very useful for cross alliance coordination and the banter chat would clear our common for it's intended use.

I know it may be more work for the devs, but I like the idea of having both, the banter chat and invite only. Now there is much more interaction between alliances, having an invite only chat would be very useful.

Also slightly off topic but a private permanent( at least for a few days) bulletin board for alliance members only, that does not get lost when you log off, would be extremely useful for members to pass on important information to other alliance members.

YES! Loving all these ideas! Especially this last note about having some level of alliance chat that is more visible. That I think is probably the most important... we lose too much info in Alliance chat since we cannot scroll back all the way. And since we're all on different schedules, it would really be beneficial to have that added.

And I definitely love the multi-player invite private chat idea! been thinking about one too for awhile. So glad it's being addressed in this thread =)

I may be posting this in the wrong place...

Regarding chat, when I close the chat window, each new message still appears and floats in the middle of the screen for a few seconds.  This forces me to read messages I'd rather ignore.  Is that going to change?  I like when the arrow flashes that a new message has been posted, but not when the new message just pops up on its own.  (Esp. when people are bickering!--not interested!).

This is really interesting as playing with other people is at least half the fun of online games for me.  I like the idea of having a permanent chat along side CC for alliance so you can get to know your alliance mates.

Probably repeating what others have said more eloquently but my 5 cent's worth

There are lots of out of game applications that will allow group chats, membership of different groups etc.  I've used Slack before and it replaced our Alliance forums in very short order.

My thoughts would be give players the tools to create their own chat channels and sit back and watch!  :)

We have an alliance chat for alliance members.  :-)  I'd like to see private group chats among players, invite only for coordinating tasks with other alliances and within alliances.

Like River, I would like to have a chat for coordinating things among a few members or players from other alliances.

Please Bers :D  It would be very useful.

I love the idea of a Tavern Chat!   The name alone describes what I think will be a good solution to the issues.  :-)

Please add a Tavern chat for those that want to sing songs or type the Lyrics to songs. The common chat is messing with my concentration at times with the game. Your trying to find 8 origami in a Dungeon and a lyric is running across the screen. I am guilty of adding to a song at times. But with a separate place to do this if I wanted to see it or add to it would be my choice. Right now I am stuck with seeing it all the time, let me opt into this type of chat. Also it might make folks want to build the Tavern, make it so they have to get to level 5 or something to see or add to the chat.

I don't mind the chat that goes on in common, but I would like to see some way of keeping it from popping up across the screen. Even when chat is hidden it still shows up. It can be especially distracting when there is a lengthy discussion going on.

Those lengthy chats are so rare and greatly missed by many of us veteran players and I think it adds to the family feel of the game, but I also think that everyone should be able to opt out of the sing a longs.

I would really like a way to chat with a small group at a time and would still love a sticky note for alliance members. We sometimes get chatty and important information can get lost in the banter.

Chat Tabs -  Still with hide button.   Help chat, always on, others with on/off switch.

Help, how do I....    Always on.  Mini tutorial, about no spoilers - answers by p.m. only.  Person asking to say "thanks, I got it now" or something, so they don't get spammed with help.

Despot Tavern - where they can talk despot stuff.  At least one victory or some other veteran goal, to join.

Collective Tavern - for collective players - a place for puzzlers and beginners.   Less than one year playing?  Plus a few trusted experienced players, willing to help and give hints, so new testers don't say,  this is too hard, I don't get it.  They can say all the silly stuff they want, without annoying the veterans.

Free for all Tavern , everybody welcome.  "Sing, sing a song, make it simple, to last the whole night long."

Do away with hero chat tabs, replace with player chat tabs, if they have more than one hero, let them say which one they are talking about, most chat is on game play.  I get lost and confused, with who is who.

Maybe something to show how many in each tavern (with tavern switched on).

Also, something to show when a new post added?
