I doubt very much I will play this game - I am very much a single gamer and have bought all the other TT games. Having not been found worthy of playing in tests, but judging from comments it reminds me of an old Facebook game I got sucked into playing which dealt mainly in destroying your "opponents"  who was not online every day/hour  and chose not become a "coiner" (i.e., someone who pays for their progress in real money).  While I can understand, as a developer, how the "coiner" type attractive, I will have to say: it is my choice, and it is not OK by me to destroy those that choose to play when they can and these  players are not necessarily those that do not buy their way either - if time/resources are wanted.

I see some people here don't follow the game since it's initial announcement (which happened like 3 years ago?) so I will re-iterate briefly.

The people's desire to have single-player game is very much understood because that's how TT1 was and this is what TT1 fans love and want more.

But the reality is - there were no choice to make TT2 single player game at all. The choice was to either make multiplayer online game with single-player features like you see it now or not making it at all.

It is not profitable to spend years on the game that will last for hours and then put into shelve. With an online game we have a chance to make TT2 a grand game which will be played for years, not quick cheap sequel knocked out in a few months to grab a few bucks.

Sure, you can express your regrets about the game being the way it is, but I can only sympathize you. There is no place in the commercial gaming world for games like original Totem Tribe anymore. This is sad but such is life.

Instead of giving up on the game completely we decided to look for a new game formats to be able to develop a great profitable game which will be close to the originals as possible and we came out with what we have.

I am all open towards the ideas about how to make gaming experience more comfortable to those people who prefer to play alone, but this game will never be a single-player one and it was never advertised as one.

I apologize in advance if that sounded too harsh, but I think it is better to clear things up once and for all to prevent future speculations and misunderstanding.

Who does your "market research"? I mean, as an avid gamer, I stopped buying games as an adult because they force PVP. Sure... teen boys play PVP games; but they run off adult players who don't want to fight for uber loot d00d. I'd totally by TT2 if it were actually a sequel to TT1. This game, with waiting for ages to build a town to be cannon fodder for teen boys (d00dz) who want to PVP will NEVER see a penny of my money. It just isn't worth it. I get little to no immersion, have to risk losing it all non-stop, and am merely building a city that is pvp-esq for a d00d to attack. Nope, not paying for that.

I find your comments both here and the other thread you posted to very amusing. :) First, you don't really 'sound' like an adult witht he vocabulary you are using in both posts.  Second, you might be very surprised to know that a very large portion of players that are playing TT2 are grannies....Yup, little old ladies that knit sweaters for their grandkids while playing TT2.  Play on, gamer boy. :)

Not fair to judge a game you have never played.

I too, was intimidated by the pvp aspect. It has now become my favorite part of the game.

The team has worked really hard to make a great game and have succeeded beyond measure.  Btw, I am not a teen.

Noone gonna do market research instead of us, just like noone will develop our games instead of us. You missed the target with your sarcasm as TT2 despite being closed alpha with limited number of players already more successful than TTG, which was purely single player without PVP.

Second miss in your assumptions is about "adults". My guess would be that majority of current TT2 players are older than you. There is little to no teens in this game at the moment.

The fact that you don't like some aspects about the game and not willing to support it financially is OK, we can't please everyone and honestly, not even trying to. However, acting like you know it all and making posts with such an aplomb, won't win you points. Actually I think you should read the rule #1 of our rules: http://www.totemtribe.com/game/rules/

P.S. In the game you have been beaten by grannies, so enjoy ;-)

You misunderstand me, and I do apologize if I came off as completely sarcastic. That was not my intention. My point is that this game isn't original in the fact that there are already a ton of city building games that are designed exactly like this - you have to wait a really long time, or buy "boosts" to expedite the process. The problem is such with all pay to win games, you have an influx of young boys who will buy the 10 and 20 dollar "cards" at gamestop, to build up and attack. That market simply won't last long, as there are more games (like X-box and Anime based games) that will drive their attention.

Totem Tribe I had the best story in most games I have played. I loved that there were three possible endings. I think down playing PVP action, and up playing the aspects of role playing and adventure is the way to go. So far, this game has kept my interest with the storyline aspects - especially the opposition, and I think the keeper's village was amazingly done, kudos on that!

I actually do have some thoughts on what can make it better, and what would make me want to spend money on the game. I payed 45 a month for 15 years to play Asheron's Call.

Btw - My initial snark was in response to your snark (notice that I quoted you in my response). So, mayhaps you should also read rule #1. ;)

I do realize a lot of players atm are self proclaimed grannies - hey that is pretty awesome too; glad to play a game with a more mature audience. However, if you "grannies" have played other games in early development, you will know what I am talking about. When this game is closer to completion, it will most definitely at some point be advertised in markets that younger people who are PVP "gun ho!" with momma's purse strings. You will see profanity in the chat, vicious PVPing, and alliances focused on that sort of thing. Seen it in a ton of other city builders. It isn't pretty.

All I was trying to point out is that there needs to be an option to be social, role play, and not be forced to be on constant defense from a hoard of PVPers.

Also my reference to "D00dz" was from an Easter Egg in Asheron's Call:

http://asheron.wikia.com/wiki/The_D00dz

It was a book hidden in one of the city's bookshelves that addressed teen boy PVP players. I lived through it when it came out, and suggest it as a comical read. Good lesson to learn from. I mean, game developers years ago addressed it when an influx of AC players quit playing for the same reason.

That is all I wanted to do also. My gaming experience on what works for a game and what doesn't work is just as valuable as yours.
