Alpha 6 Deployment: Industrial Age added and more!

Alpha 6 Deployment: Industrial Age added and more!

Today we launched Alpha Test Stage 6. This new version of the game features the addition of a whole new Industrial Age, totally new Desert climate, and a lot of smaller additions.

Let's go into detail about everything step by step.

Industrial Age

As always, the new Age adds a whole lot of new buildings, units, technologies, upgrades, and so on. We had previewed some of the stuff earlier, but I will describe the key ones:

  1. Oil! Industrial Age adds a fifth basic resource - the oil. Oil is required by a lot of things in Industrial Age. Not only is it consumed when you build some structures, construct some units, and upgrades, but it is also consumed when you move your machines!
  2. Trucks and Barges. New resource delivery units will match your increasing needs for resource shuffling.
  3. Engineers. This new unit will be able to fix your machines in battle, just like witchdoctors and medics heal living units.
  4. Tanks. Unlike rams and mortars, tanks are more than just siege units. They are capable of being frontline fighters.
  5. Submarines. Ultimate anti-navy, submarines are very effective against ships, and they can also sneak undetected into enemy towns. They are unable to attack anything except other ships, but they can spy.
  6. Planes. Horses are useless in industrial age, but the new strategic resource 'Aluminium' provides access to planes, unlocking aerial combat for you!
  7. Bombs. The ultimate weapon of the industrial age - bomber planes loaded with bombs can destroy enemy buildings very quickly.
  8. Observatory. Allows you to reduce corruption effect on your research.
  9. Railroads. Even better than the paved roads.

You can find out more about the new industrial stuff yourself.

New World

This time around you will be playing in the hot desert climate. It is a dramatic change from freezing tundra of the previous Alpha stage. As always, a new climate is not only the way things look, but also minor things like unique monsters, unique animals, fish species, strategic resources, etc. In this climate you will be able to get camels and build Caravanserai - which allows to train Camel Archers in Medieval Age!

Finally, the world map has changed once again, making continents even larger than in Alpha 5. Now continents are 44% larger than before. They have super-fertile spots too that were available in Alpha 4 and missing in Alpha 5.

Monster Dens

There are 14 new quest locations with monsters that respawn over time. They provide you with both adventure opportunities and a place where you can kill monsters to get experience and loot if your own towns are not enough. Most of those locations are available right after tutorial, so uncover fog like crazy until you get them!

New Quests

The Wonderful Garden was appreciated by a large number of players, thus we decided to add another minigame similar to the garden. Meet Victor Tesla and his tragic love story.

There are some other new things that may draw your interest - like troubling graveyards or weird thorns.

Outfit Items

We added a whole new category of items which we had previewed earlier. Those items can improve your character's looks. They do not add any advantage, but allow you to make your hero cool and unique. Those items can only be obtained as a reward for inviting other players into the game or can be purchased in the Cash Shop.

The wipe of progress and Enkord Cash refund

Just like it was announced in previous news post - all Enkord Cash spent during March will be refunded. Needless to say, any unspent Enkord Cash will not be lost and you will be able to spend them during Alpha 6 without problems. Additionally, there are some other things worth mentioning:

  • All items purchased with Enkord Cash (those which have E sign) were transferred to Alpha 6, so you will be able to start a new hero with these items from the old Age.
  • You can even take up to 3 equipment items from the old hero to the new one, so your best artifacts can be kept!
  • Last but not the least - there are different bonus packages - second wind and loyalist packages - so you will have a better start at Alpha 6.

All existing heroes and countries are wiped, because the changes in Alpha 6 are too complicated to allow us keep your progress. We appologize if it causes you inconvenience, but don't forget this game is still in an early stage of development. Such progress losses were expected and announced in advance.

The rankings are wiped for everyone as well - but achievements are kept and can be continued in Alpha 6.

What's next?

We will start the deployment right away, but as always, the early version of the new Alpha stage might be extremely buggy, Critical bugs might even require us to reset the progress again. Plus it will be extremely crowded at launch. If you want a relatively smooth experience you might decide to wait a few days or even a week. If you can't wait - welcome, but expect bugs, crashes, and a tight map.

In the comments below, let's reminisce about Alpha 5 - which is over - and also post impressions about your early dive into Alpha 6.

Below are the top lists of players and alliances at the end of Alpha 5 as seen in the game. I must say, the moving moons on the splash screen are quite lovely. Atmosphere is constantly improving, which is great.

Alpha 5 brought many joys. First and foremost was new friends. The tundra was fun and provided us with many new experiences.

The penguins were very cute and to our delight, could clear swallow water. The snowing was another nice touch. Very fun, expect when I was working on the wonderful garden, then it hurt my eyes.

The improvements to the food production was much appreciated! Thank you, Bers :)

The wearing out of clothes and the implementation of weight limits on gear, created many funny situations. Laughed a lot and bonded with others over it.

The addition of being able to see the armies of alliance members was very helpful for warfare and defense. Not to mention that it was fun to watch the armies swarm a town. Even the collect players wanted to be commanders, so they could see and help. They used their fun items, such as clockworks, even though they did not go to war. Without a doubt, my favorite improvement to the game.

The limiting of how many resources we could send to someone did cause us problems. Especially, if the player was in anarchy, when they needed so much help with resources. The tax/levy did not work in practice for us and really did not use it, except for anarchy, but it was a big hassle. Many did not understand and others did not even notice it or know how to send the levy. We have so many players that are in different time zones, that it is hard to get word to everyone as to the how and why, without having to say it many times. Would really like to have a sticky note on alliance chat.

The faster speed of rafts this alpha was very nice. Still spent a lot of time traveling, but was a big improvement from A4. And I love, love the brigs.

Still not crazy about the stripes system for a war victory. But I did enjoy collecting the few stripes that I did get. I would have liked to have had a trophy hall and been able to collect trophies. The 1 level of it that I did get was not enough of a joy to have me looking in there to view my trophies.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the improvements that A6 will bring us. I am sure there will be some that I like and some that I don't like.

The game is truly fabulous and getting better and better with each alpha. Thank you team for A5!

Echo what Mari said about the difficulty of keeping communications going in an alliance of any size.  Is it possible to give alliances their own private zones in the forum?

Nefret has returned!  - But the picture isn't of her :)

Posted Hall of Fame lists for Alpha 5 above. Pay attention to the top players in the Defense category. Those are the most resilient ones which has been attacked the most by others but still survived through to reach the end of alpha and deserve the extra credit :)

First Impressions of A6,I like the Monster Dens as quest locations, it certainly helps with the 'quiet' period of the game after the initial startHave bumped into a couple of animal types I have not seen before and look forward to taming them.Aside from being very squeezed together again, things are looking very impressive. Magnificent even.I am Currently working on the Tesla puzzle - Not sure about that yet but maybe because I haven't quite got my head around the 'rules' . However I experienced the same at first with the flower garden puzzle in A5 but soon got to know.As I say, possibly a little early to give full impressions but from what I see so far, you have done an outstanding job.... yet again

First impression of A6...love the look and feel of the desert. Very wet for a desert, which is not a complaint but rather a pleasant surprise! The monster dens are fabulous, love uncovering a new one and it inspires me to clear fog more rapidly, am looking forward to when I can survive long enough to fully explore them. I have found some new and different things in my towns which I am excited about as well. I think the new additions are very helpful in providing something to do while waiting on res to build up. Outstanding and magnificent work, can't wait to uncover even more surprises that I am sure are awaiting!

Had too much fun stuff to do to post my first impressions of A6 earlier.  My eyes thank  all of you.  Relaxing with a nice blend of water, greenery; rock and sand.  Took a peak in one of the monster dens and can't wait to get back in there.  Outstanding graphics for the little I have seen.  A+++ to the developers for much, much more than I expected.  Could go on for a lot longer but need to explore some more of the outstanding new features.   Thanks again for hours of pure enjoyment!!!

I see folks chatting about Monster Den's, I have been playing this hero for 3 days have accessed 13 cells in all 4 directions and have not found any.  Maybe today I will find some or maybe 1  My hero level is 5. I had to delete (I know stupid me) a hero, since another player had 2 hero's side by side and I know she wants lots of room to grow.  So far it is the same as the previous Alpha's. I will say resources are at a minimum.  Neighbors are not too bad right now, they will not like me in 3 days 11 hrs and 33 min. They will be calling me names and reporting me for being a bully. I can handle it, been there done that and I have spent enough money to buy a closet full of t-shirts. Your game is awesome Berserker, thanks thinking up the game a good 5 or 6 years ago. I have been a loyal Enkord player for many many Moons.

I found the first Monster Den, Dendrog den. coolness!

I am loving A6 so far.  The desert graphics are wonderful, as is the music, as usual.

I think the monster dens are an excellent addition to pass the time during builds and to help level up our heros.  I have only uncovered a handful of them, but they are very fun and I'm excited to explore more.  The names and new monsters are very creative.  I hope they get progressively harder so as to give us something to do a couple months down the road and keep our interest.

I also look forward to doing the new puzzles.  One of my favorite things to do when waiting for builds.  I haven't attempted any yet except the garden, which is now a breeze.

The new outfits are funny, although a bit expensive since they don't do anything.

All in all, a big improvement from A5.  Love the new adds.  I am not a fan of the stripes; never have been.  Also, the buildings becoming obsolete as we progress through research is a bit frustrating.  You really need to pay attention to what you will lose with each level and if it will be replaced.

These are just a few early impressions that I can think of at this time.

How does being reduced to 1 cell qualify as having "survived?" When it is impossible to completely wipe a collect player from the map.
