Alpha 6 Deployment: Industrial Age added and more!

Alpha 6 Deployment: Industrial Age added and more!

Today we launched Alpha Test Stage 6. This new version of the game features the addition of a whole new Industrial Age, totally new Desert climate, and a lot of smaller additions.

Let's go into detail about everything step by step.

Industrial Age

As always, the new Age adds a whole lot of new buildings, units, technologies, upgrades, and so on. We had previewed some of the stuff earlier, but I will describe the key ones:

  1. Oil! Industrial Age adds a fifth basic resource - the oil. Oil is required by a lot of things in Industrial Age. Not only is it consumed when you build some structures, construct some units, and upgrades, but it is also consumed when you move your machines!
  2. Trucks and Barges. New resource delivery units will match your increasing needs for resource shuffling.
  3. Engineers. This new unit will be able to fix your machines in battle, just like witchdoctors and medics heal living units.
  4. Tanks. Unlike rams and mortars, tanks are more than just siege units. They are capable of being frontline fighters.
  5. Submarines. Ultimate anti-navy, submarines are very effective against ships, and they can also sneak undetected into enemy towns. They are unable to attack anything except other ships, but they can spy.
  6. Planes. Horses are useless in industrial age, but the new strategic resource 'Aluminium' provides access to planes, unlocking aerial combat for you!
  7. Bombs. The ultimate weapon of the industrial age - bomber planes loaded with bombs can destroy enemy buildings very quickly.
  8. Observatory. Allows you to reduce corruption effect on your research.
  9. Railroads. Even better than the paved roads.

You can find out more about the new industrial stuff yourself.

New World

This time around you will be playing in the hot desert climate. It is a dramatic change from freezing tundra of the previous Alpha stage. As always, a new climate is not only the way things look, but also minor things like unique monsters, unique animals, fish species, strategic resources, etc. In this climate you will be able to get camels and build Caravanserai - which allows to train Camel Archers in Medieval Age!

Finally, the world map has changed once again, making continents even larger than in Alpha 5. Now continents are 44% larger than before. They have super-fertile spots too that were available in Alpha 4 and missing in Alpha 5.

Monster Dens

There are 14 new quest locations with monsters that respawn over time. They provide you with both adventure opportunities and a place where you can kill monsters to get experience and loot if your own towns are not enough. Most of those locations are available right after tutorial, so uncover fog like crazy until you get them!

New Quests

The Wonderful Garden was appreciated by a large number of players, thus we decided to add another minigame similar to the garden. Meet Victor Tesla and his tragic love story.

There are some other new things that may draw your interest - like troubling graveyards or weird thorns.

Outfit Items

We added a whole new category of items which we had previewed earlier. Those items can improve your character's looks. They do not add any advantage, but allow you to make your hero cool and unique. Those items can only be obtained as a reward for inviting other players into the game or can be purchased in the Cash Shop.

The wipe of progress and Enkord Cash refund

Just like it was announced in previous news post - all Enkord Cash spent during March will be refunded. Needless to say, any unspent Enkord Cash will not be lost and you will be able to spend them during Alpha 6 without problems. Additionally, there are some other things worth mentioning:

  • All items purchased with Enkord Cash (those which have E sign) were transferred to Alpha 6, so you will be able to start a new hero with these items from the old Age.
  • You can even take up to 3 equipment items from the old hero to the new one, so your best artifacts can be kept!
  • Last but not the least - there are different bonus packages - second wind and loyalist packages - so you will have a better start at Alpha 6.

All existing heroes and countries are wiped, because the changes in Alpha 6 are too complicated to allow us keep your progress. We appologize if it causes you inconvenience, but don't forget this game is still in an early stage of development. Such progress losses were expected and announced in advance.

The rankings are wiped for everyone as well - but achievements are kept and can be continued in Alpha 6.

What's next?

We will start the deployment right away, but as always, the early version of the new Alpha stage might be extremely buggy, Critical bugs might even require us to reset the progress again. Plus it will be extremely crowded at launch. If you want a relatively smooth experience you might decide to wait a few days or even a week. If you can't wait - welcome, but expect bugs, crashes, and a tight map.

In the comments below, let's reminisce about Alpha 5 - which is over - and also post impressions about your early dive into Alpha 6.

First impressions are so important, because new people playing the game decide In the 1st 20 minutes to an hour if they will continue playing. I think there is enough of a tease with clearing the fog to keep newcomers interested. As for A6 in particular, I had forgotten how slow it is to get started! The additional conversation with Mr. Z is helpful. The scenery is outstanding and the younger people in my family are enthusiastic about the outfits options. I am certainly looking forward to the monster spawning in the towns, and the dens add a delightful, if not very useable until you have some troops trained, way to keep busy while waiting for builds, not to mention experience and goodies! Seems like huts should give more of an increase in building speed, or culture. Its so hard to upgrade them for a such a little benefit, at least at the beginning.  Never thought I would say it, but I do miss the GARDEN!  Hopefully it will be in another town or another hero.  Tesla is waiting for me to get smart enough to play with him, so not much to say, except he sounded very condescending and someone on chat pointed out that the real Tesla was extremely condescending, so while I don't like him very much, it is okay.   The new puzzles are great!   Love the thorny path.  I am so looking forward to new puzzles.  Keep up the good work, I love this game!

love the game for originality! well done for a unique game like totem tribe! theres no other like it. Theres something in  it for EVERYONE to enjoy. Adventure ... hidden object..... strategy.... etc. As for alpha 6 I didn't play alpha 5 for very long so carn't compare but am looking forward to story progression namely karfaree in next alpha hopefully not too long. Love the objectives page you always know what to do without the game being too easy. I am always playing the game when I have the chance so it must be darn good! just a couple of gripes the main  is I carn't see objects or gems etc very well some are too tiny for me to spot. More music tracks to? one quest in keepers village to clear the trees to get to the village I had to do alot of random mouse clicking on the trees to water the correct ones. Maybe its me maybe I need new glasses?  no game is perfect but this game seriously isn't far off.

Well, as usual is a real pleasure to discover my town in the begining of each alpha! Nice colors and the new desert plants looks very realistic. Well done once again :-)

Thanks God ( or Bers ! lol ) no more path full of zillions of dragons, but a path full of thorns, nice idea. A little bit slow for me , but i hope at the end my patience will be grantly rewarded, maybe even with a tasty chicken leg !

Found Victor Tesla, really interesting mini-game. Correct rewards after finishing each level and an interesting surprise after few days! I am already at 10x10 and cant wait to finish it - a little bit anxious I have to confess, Bers's surprises are always ...how to say..surprising? :-)

Still not fan of the Garden, maybe Victor will borrow me some electricity, the gardener survided to all my previous attemps to make her leaving my town ...hmmpf

The monters dens are great! Found six so far, really good idea to fill them up with various "monsters" and to make a different design for each one. I like also looking for gems and items there. 14 monsters dens and 10 caves I wonder when I will have time to "visit" my neighbours. Joking of course LOL

New outfits are nice too, special prize for the Invisible Hat and Demon Wings. Good to know that we can keep them thru the alphas.

I like a lot the music, much better than in A5.

I love this game, keep doing like this, you're doing a great job :)

so far so good. I love the new 9 new quest location (except the one where the game kept crashing) and I found all of them. Especially Centurion prison I liked. I love the desert: the lovely blue of the pools/lakes with the green around them and the yellow of the desert. very pleasing to my eyes!! and i am very glad there are palm trees again in sea towns. I missed them. the new features in town are great, like the changing thorn bushes. Tesla will take some time to get used to. only negative atm, there are not a lot of global resources that i can find so far, but I am hoping I will find a lot more further down the tech tree. Thanks Team!! great work!!

After today's update it should not be crashing.

I too love the brilliant colors of this alpha. The desert is a nice change after the tundra (which I also loved.)

The super food spot cells are much appreciated. Although after your changes, the food was not the problem that it had been in past alphas.

Love the monster dens and can't wait till my army is big enough to truly explore them. The spider one is really intriguing.

I like the vine trail. It is really fun and gives me something to do. I am looking forward to getting to the end.

I can't wait until I am intelligent enough to do Telsa's mini game, but that gives me something to look forward to. The flower garden now seems so easy, that I can solve it very quickly at this stage. I know when I get the red ones, I will be pulling my hair out again. The mini games are really nice to have. I spend to much time waiting, and it gives me something to do, but is still not time sensitive.

Enjoyed your "preview" of the new weapons and am looking forward to testing them out for myself. I hope you do not stay under flags very much...lol

They game has been great since the very beginning and continues to get better and better. I can't wait to discover more of what happens in your twisted mind. :D

Okay I am breaking down and giving my first impressions of A6, although I won't know my true impression until I have advanced further into the game. Right now there is nothing to say except "bravo". Great graphics, new locations, new puzzles, much more entertainment during the more tedious time of (once again) repeating early ages. Well done.

First impression - the new things are great. I was first thinking if I indeed want to start everything over and again after the wipe and maybe it was the right time to quit, but it all looks so great and exciting that I am  continuing :) I like new puzzles/mini games, was happy to see the garden again. The climate is fresh and pleasant - better than I expected for a dessert, and good to have new and more locations to visit, like dens. It is great to have a possibility to do plastic surgery or change haircut - will be a fun moment later while waiting for buildings to finish - to try out new styles and outfits.

The game is great, keep going!

Hi, just saw the request on common chat for first impressions.  I was very pleased that the initial bug with our heroes walking beneath the fog was promptly resolved....great work, team!

Love the new terrain and colors of the water and cacti, much more appealing than the snow for me.

Enjoyed leveling up a bit at the Dendrog Lair, and like last alpha, I love seeing small mobs in town #2.

I'm playing my first despot and it's not a bad little system, I would just love to be able to see the battle, but I do understand there are limitations.

This is my first time starting an alpha and am doing my very first attacks and it's so fun and I'm leveling up quickly.

My first impressions of the desert are that it is nice, really would like a few more camels but so much easier on the eyes then the tundra was. The monster dens are a nice addition, and I see in update you will reduce the number of monsters in towns and I think that will be nice also. I do seem to have some of the same features within my towns that I hope is just because you are testing them. I think the number of puzzles seems to be reduced? I only say that because with three towns I have one.  I love this game and really cannot wait for continuation of the story.

First time playing at all...A6 in interesting.  Like the mystery of clearing the fog and the monsters uncovered. Enjoying the desert. Wish the tool would stay employed until I dismiss it. It is slow going for me but my lvl is still low. Really am enjoying the game.

Is the updating slow because it is still in development or my system?
