Just a suggestion but do we have to lose culture points and then possibly territory when we found a new town. If you are expanding I cannot see the logic that as soon as you found the town you lose 25 or so points from all your other towns. Realistically as soon as you found a new town you should have more culture points overall not less. Perhaps you could explain.

I agree. Since Expansion Victory is one of the paths, I would think that the loss of culture points should not exist or at least be reduced. I also think that maybe the percent of corruption for each new town should be revisited and a possible reduction of percentage should be considered.

Culture is not the only thing you loose. You also loose resource income. This mechanics is called "corruption", you get 5% penalty per each new town starting from #3 and expansion victory takes this into account. Each next town brings progressively less advantage. We do this to encourage having less developed towns as opposed to many undeveloped ones.

Sorry Berserker I do not understand the difference between less developed towns and many undeveloped one or should you have put more developed towns rather than many undeveloped. Are you saying it's ' better to not develop your town' so you can expand without penalty. This does not sit right, if you have put the time and resourses in to develop your town why should you be penalised against someone who is just going for expansion as quick as possible?

I think the corruption factor is a contributing element to the pervasive food shortage problem and wonder if the percentage tops out at some point? If you have 10 towns you could be penalized 35% at 5% per town and that is a huge percentage. Shouldn't corruption be a factor in just those towns founded beginning with the third town and leave Dwelling and the second town untouched? As far as loss of culture I agree with the players. It seems contradictory to lose culture and therefore real estate since one of the victories is expansion.

It is an advantage to develop towns you already have instead of beginning lots of small towns. The game is designed to make it more difficult - or just about impossible - to create many small settlements, and more difficult to upkeep your entire domain when you choose to do this. I do not see this as being unfair. If a player's intention is to have a large army and pursue a war achievement, then much culture is lost during this development. Likewise, if a player's intention is to have a large domain, pursuing a cultural achievement, then much culture is lost during this development.

I don't think anyone is surprised, just commenting on their view of how corruption works. I can't speak for all but I've been aware of the feature for some time. However, I never had enough towns in the last stage to see the full effect.

i agree with all of the opinions, but, i understand that in one of the next ages, we will be able to reverse the corruption so it will not be a problem any longer. we just have to get to the further ages to enable [ research ] the ability to reverse it

I totally understand the corruption. I have 11 towns in one of my heroes. I also know that someday we will be able to research efficiency. Remember this is alpha and the game has a long ways to go

No, I have never said that, you've probably misunderstood me. Well... in fact there will be an option to reduce the corruption, but it will reduce a small amount of it. Will help a bit, but not in the large scale.
