Idea - War camp

I've been playing Alpha 4 of TT2 for a few hundred days as collectivism. Back then I wasn't so much interested in Alliances and war, but since I've restarted A5 as leaderism, I have become quite interested in these features of the game.

I'm new to these aspects, and there are probably many game mechanisms I am not aware of (even after digging 1+ year old posts). Nevertheless I have a few ideas I would like to share

The "Game" webpage has an alliance paragraph. I believe it is still up to date, and my ideas follow this spirit !

end up in the big Alliance fighting for territory, or even a Coalition of Alliances that strives for world domination. Defensive Alliances are also possible, where players could join together and coordinate defenses to make their questing easier.

Player War camps

My dwelling spawned at the edge of the continent. Most of my team members are far away, and we are waging a war on the other end of the continent. So well, I cannot really participate to the war effort due to the distance.

What if players, or alliances, were allowed to estalish a War Camp on the map :

  • Can be built on non-owned territory (malus applied if someone else's territory expand on the war camp)
  • No culture generated (or maybe just single cell), however provides awareness (can see units attacking camp, possibly also units travelling near the camp, at the current level of wareness)
  • It is possible to launch attacks FROM the war camp. Units that plunder resources will return the plundered resources to the camp.
  • How to use the camp :
    • Could be similar to a dwelling, that only supports war facilities (no culture gained) and traders (to take back plundered resources to the dwelling)
    • Could be similar to a quest location : a supply depot lets you store resources (food for units, but also plunder resources)
  • It is possible to upgrade fortifications - aka fortify the camp (with maybe a restriction / special walls & towers that cannot be upgraded too much
  • Could be built on tiles with resources (and allow the construction of 1/3 production facilities (eg : tile with 6 food => can build 2 farms)
  • Could be built on tiles without any resource (like mountain, etc.) so survivability in the camp solely depends on supplies
  • Of course players can plunder and demolish the camp. Plundering can be a way to eat up the food and force stationned troops to fall back
  • Number of camps that can be built is restricted (like only one per player)
  • Player can disband the camp

Alliance War camps

Originally, I had the idea to make the camp the property of an alliance. Alliance commanders can build the camps using alliance funds, and every member can station troops in the camp. Then, the alliance commanders can give orders to units in the camp (massive attack on one player, etc.)

  • Only alliance commanders can build Alliance War camps
  • Limited number of war camps (could be 1 per 5 members)
  • Every alliance member can send reinforcements to the camp. They can drive out their own reinforcements
  • Alliance Commanders can use all troops : attack player, drive out enemies, reinforce alliance member*, etc.
  • * It could become tricky to control troops that have been sent as reinforcement to an allied player to make them come back to the camp...
  • Every alliance member can supply resources TO the camp.
  • Only alliance Treasurer can strip the supplies FROM the camp (ie : redistribute war profits to players)

While the aforementionned ideas can interesting, Game-implementation wise, I'm not sure it would be possible. Ie. that would mean the "alliance" is considered as a valid owner of a war camp, and that possibly multiple players can visit the same shared location. I believe that 2 players visiting the same quest location and seeing each other on the map is impossible, but maybe a "lock system" could be implemented (eg : cannot visit location if someone else is already visiting it).

Also, an abandoned War camp could become a Shade camp like a shade city

Posting ideas is always good thing to do, especially if they are well though-out and put together. Even if the idea will not be implemented, it may inspide some other idea or feature which could make it into the game.
