SPOILER: Survey to those who have beaten several caves

IMPORTANT: The answers to the survey is useful when you find stuff without cheating (using hotkey to reveal map). If you have used the cheat, it is not helpful for us to know, whether if was easy for you to locate secrets or not.

Several questions to those who have beaten at least couple of random caves:

  1. How many caves have you completed, state their names.

  2. What have you found inside of them? Enemies, hidden objects, traps, movable rocks, blocking stalagmites, etc.

  3. How big/long did you felt the caves were? Too big, too short, just right, etc. Different caves have different size so state which one you are talking about.

  4. What kind of items have you found inside?

  5. Have you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? The secret is indicated by special sound and message in the log - "secret found"

  6. If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick?

  7. What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they?

  8. Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines?

  9. How hard were the enemies in your caves?

  10. How hard were collectible items required to progress further?

  11. How hard were the movable rocks?

  12. How hard were the stalagmite parts?

  13. How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps?

  14. What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures?

  15. If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how many times have you tried, etc.

  16. State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above.

We have hard similar surveys for the

Opposition Hideout

Keepers Village and Ruins of the New Kyiv

And they were quite helpful so if you havent filled up those, it would be great if you will do them too.

1. Small cave, Hollow cave completed (2 out of 4, Mysterious, Dire uncompleted)

2. Movable rocks, floor spike trap, hidden objects, blocking stalagmites, rock and thorn obstacles

3. Cant give an opinion, there are many new areas shown when i press F3 that i dont know how to reach.

4. A whole cooked chicken, Day of the merchant, 2 Daj'bog's pickaxe, Purified ores, Onyx crystal, Fisherman's tale, 6 Speaker horns, Hor's plow, Sextant, all in 4 caves.

5. 2 secret rooms, 1 Sextant and 1 Hor's plow.

6. They are ok.

7. Found all in 2 out of 4 caves, i didnt really search, they just were on my way and i picked.

8. No blueprints or figurines.

9. No enemies.

10. Had to find 10 twisted horns, easy.

11. Easy, easy to spot and just had to move all of them to see what's under.

12. The hardest part, some stalagmite pieces scattered across the map are impossible to find because some are placed behind the background stalagmites on the floor, i gave up on finding them in 2 caves.

13. Didnt have a serious trap, didnt worry about disabling it. Didnt even know there are switches to disable the traps.

14. They would be fun at the start of the game, when we start to uncover the worldmap slowly and find caves, it would be just like one more quest location, and caves would be easier for new players, since some might not need an army.

15. No boss.

16. Ignavus was kind enough to cook a whole chicken for me and place it inside a big silver chest.

Would be interesting to have some puzzles inside the caves.

i just found a small cave, 'fear and doubt'. I sent an army of 18 there with 400 food. The food was not needed, and neither was the army. The cave was a gem hunt. I found em all. The cave looks great. The hunt was fun and do-able. The torch melted the ice block. The bonus item was a bronze merchant badge. It was fun to have somewhere else to go... looking for other caves now.

That's why I said the survey if for people who have beaten "several" caves :)  The small cave is... small and the same for everyone.

1. How many caves have you completed, state their names. I have found two caves for one hero (small cave and hidden cave) and four for another (Small Cave, Hollow Cave, Mysterious Cave and Dire Cave)

2. What have you found inside of them? Enemies, hidden objects, traps, movable rocks, blocking stalagmites, etc. I have not found enemies in any of them, but I did find a lot of hidden objects, several spiky traps, movable rocks, stalagmites and some new friends!

3. How big/long did you felt the caves were? Too big, too short, just right, etc. Different caves have different size so state which one you are talking about. I like how the caves were not all the same size. The small cave was, not surprisingly, quite small, but it is great to find a new area no matter the size! Over all I thought they were just right.

4. What kind of items have you found inside? Coins, speaker horns, a sextant, gems, devil in diguise, savings policy, onyx crystal, scent of freedom

5. Have you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? The secret is indicated by special sound and message in the log - "secret found" Alas, not yet.

6. If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick? N/A

7. What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they? I have found them all in the small cave and hollow cave, but have trouble in the others. Normally they are easy to spot except if they hide under the movable rocks or amongst other crystal formations.

8. Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines? I haven't found a blueprint or figurine, but the other hidden items were very useful, especially the sextant. I don't like waiting :)

9. How hard were the enemies in your caves? I have not encountered them.

10. How hard were collectible items required to progress further? I am having trouble with the stalagmites, see question 12.

11. How hard were the movable rocks? Not very hard, it just took some time to make sure that my hero touched all the rocks in the cave.

12. How hard were the stalagmite parts? Very hard. I am now working on Dire Cave and can't for the life of me find the stalagmite parts required. I'm stuck.

13. How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps? Some were trickier than others, but if you know what to look for they are doable. I only can't find them in Hidden Cave, and my hero there just trotted unceremoniously to her death.

14. What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures? I really enjoy them, especially because they give an extra dimension to exploring the world map. And since there is no building or waiting, they have indeed a bit of the TT1 feel.

15. If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how   many times have you tried, etc. I have not found a boss yet.

16. State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above. I liked the overall atmosphere, with the slightly foreboding music. And that they came as a surprise :) Thanks!

Several questions to those who have beaten at least couple of random caves:

  1. How many caves have you completed, state their names. -I got 2 heroes, one found 3 caves but completed 2 caves; small cave and hollow cave. Other got 2 cave, can only complete 1 cave; it's small cave.

  2. What have you found inside of them? Enemies, hidden objects, traps, movable rocks, blocking stalagmites, etc. - trap door with pins on the floor, secret passage hide by movable rock, stalagmites, ices (big one can't use torch to melt it), army of spiders that kill my hero.

  3. How big/long did you felt the caves were? Too big, too short, just right, etc. Different caves have different size so state which one you are talking about. - I got small cave, hollow cave, dire cave and mystic cave. I think small cave is too short. I know it's small cave but it's very easy so make it a bit longer. Other is in good size and right obstacle.

  4. What kind of items have you found inside? - trumpets, book for shorten building time.

  5. Have you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? The secret is indicated by special sound and message in the log - "secret found" - There's secret? Is it about man that got ditch by some woman and she dare him to prove himself? If not, no not even one. This make me looking forward to cave even more

  6. If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick?

  7. What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they? - I found them all. gem is easy.

  8. Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines? -lots of trumpets, a book for shorten building time and a mask head (can't remember the item name). I hope to find blueprint ><

  9. How hard were the enemies in your caves? - Don't know yet. I use hero(lv10) alone to fight spiders (bad idea, defeat instanly).

  10. How hard were collectible items required to progress further? Not too hard.

  11. How hard were the movable rocks? - Very easy.

  12. How hard were the stalagmite parts? - Easy to spot. I found it all right away.

  13. How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps? - Can't find it at first. But it isn't too hard. I like it.

  14. What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures? - I don't think it feel like TT1. It give the feeling the same as opposite hideout. I like the cave idea. It's fun to explore and good for killing time.

  15. If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how many times have you tried, etc. - Big violet/blue spiders, is it a boss?

  16. State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above. - I don't know is this worth mention. I found bears in a cave and tame it with a jar of honey that I found nearby. I think bear is the coolest animal that I met so far in this game. - At the first time I found small cave, I send army there (10 archers 5 legions 5 centurion, 7 horses, 6 witchdoctors) And no obstacles. So after that I use solo hero. But now I met spiders, I will go back with full force this time (should send lot of greekfire with them just in case).

I would not say I've beaten all the caves I've visited with Diana and Shepherd Book, as there are still areas I have not been able to access for both.  However, Diana has visited the most caves thus far.

She has finished the Small and Hollow Caves.  She got stuck at Mysterious Cave due to a glitch with the secret passages, which I will revisit and try again today.

She has also visited Deep Cave, but that one is unfinished as well as she can't find a key to open a gate to access other areas.

That being said, I have found speed up manuals, a battle cry, a hoe, a production boosting axe and several maps to deep cave and one to Legendary cave.

The gems are relatively straight-forward and the twisted horns were hidden but not impossible.

I like the floor spikes.  I lost a couple of troops, thinking I disabled them completely, but was able to find the buttons to disable them after a bit of looking.  :-D  Those are a nice touch.

The horseshoes, however, are very well hidden.  I spent over an hour looking for the 16th one and I can't find it.  Either it is in an area that is inaccessible or my eyes are missing it.  I admit I did have to use a zoom  feature on my television to enlarge the picture so I could spot them.  They are very hard to see.  Maybe a wee bit too hard.

So far, I have not run into any mobs or bosses.  I may be lucky, lol.  The only traps I have run into are the spikes and the chasm did not require more resources than my camp can hold.

For both Diana and Book there is an area in Deep and/or mysterious cave that has a wooden foot bridge that I cannot access, but like I said, I'm not done yet.  Both have keys they cannot seem to find.  But I believe I fixed the stalagmites in the correct order.

I don't think I have found any secrets yet.  The moveable rocks are a neat touch but one of them was simply moveable, with nothing underneath and no visible hidden passage behind it.

I now have three brown bears and a white Bear at Diana, along with flies (whatever they are for) and a jar of honey.  I tamed the bears with Diana's girlish charm, lol.  So, now I have honey!  I love the bears!  I missed them and the wolves this stage.

All in all I like the caves. I find them challenging and not yet impossible.  Thanks team!

So far I am very disappointed in the caves, I have visited 6 of them small, Hollow, Mysterious, Deep, Dire and Legendary. I find Purified Iron Ore (that I can't use I have 35 of them), I have a couple of books to speed up buildings, but the horseshoes and rock a hole I can't find the last 1 or 2 of them. I have nothing cool like bears, I am so jealous. Since the horseshoes and rock a hole are impossible to find I have lost total interest in the rest of the caves. If you had the feature like in TTG where the last one would pulsate then I might have a fighting chance.

I have to admit. I am a big fan of F3. I try to resist the power of the 4th key from the left .. but at times it is just too much for me. However, this does not necessarily mean that it did me much good or changed my cave strategies. Just because I could see a new path does not mean I could figure out how to get there. And it might mean that I can still put in my three cents.

First, I would like to say "Bravo!" to the team for the great job you have done on these caves. What fun! and great imagination! Good TT. Love everything about them, including the difficulties. Hey, I am not a fan of easy, and if at first I do not succeed, well then it just gives me a reason to return. A cave does not need to be completed in the first visit or incredibly easy in order to enjoy the experience.

As mentioned, each hero's caves are different. Some are short visits, others just go on forever and I feel I could get lost in them. I found skeletons .. bears, workers, . Each hero had to find a different group of objects in order to open a chest ... some had doors, others had stalagmites, rocks moved, buttons pushed, on and on one little object after another meant something somewhere. Each time I discovered a new secret I wanted to go back to prior caves and check to see if I missed something.

I felt silly sometimes directing my hero to check every rock, but hey, if I found something it was worth it. I kept hoping a moving rock would reveal a stalagmite end piece. I admit I am a tad frustrated by my inability to find these items. I found a couple in some pretty obscure places. However, I have the impression that each broken stalagmite is individual and one end cannot necessarily be replaced by another. I may be wrong, but if this is actually the case then getting through these obstacles is nearly an impossible task. However, if I know the sly character Mr. Bers, then there may be another way around this. :) I am quite aware that I do not need to complete a cave for any reason, except for my personal happiness, but I don't want it to be impossible.

So, I love difficult but don't fare well with impossible. That is my input :) All in all, it is a great addition to the game. Thank you !

Update;

The spiders I met is not a boss. My army beat them and got lots of tech point potion. BTW your spiders are very colorful, like them although the big yellow red violet one is really ugly. lol

I found tons of purified ore (15 pieces 4 kinds).

more obstacle; fire on floor, thorn.

So i've had the opportunity to do some cave exploring with both of my heros.  Although i can't say that i've 'beaten' any other than the small cave, maybe you'd still find my survey responses useful.

1. How many caves have you completed, state their names.  Haven't completed any, except for the small caves for both of my heros.  Leeana has found Dire, Small, Secret, Hollow, Hidden and Mysterious. Carolyn has found Small, Mysterious, Hidden and Hollow.

2. What have you found inside of them?  Moveable rocks, hidden objects - specifically horseshoes and rock a holes, spikey floor traps, and a few broken stalagmites that needed fixing.  In one cave, i found what seems like an impossible chasm (see bug/problem report).

3.  How big/long did you felt the caves were?  Good size in terms of mapping.  By long, do you mean how long it takes to complete them?  If so, more on that later.

4.  What kind of items have you found inside?  Coins, loads of speaker horns, some books to speed construction.  Each hero found at least one cave with loads of purified ores...since we can't use any of these, it was a bit disappointing to find so many things we can't use, however, the area they were in was nicely laid out.  I was also very lucky to find a figurine with one hero and a blueprint!! with the other hero. YAY!

5.Have you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? YES.  WIth leeana, i've found four of them, three with my other hero.

6.  If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick?  I like them.  I totally can't wait to meet this Ignavus dude.

7. What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they?  Finding gems is pretty easy.  It's almost like a second thought, though.  Not something i would go back and make sure i got them all since as far as i know, nothing is gained by finding them all except to say...'i found them all!'

8.  Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines?  I answered this kind of in question 4.  One blueprint and one figurine found with two different heros.  Sometimes i click too fast on items i pick up and i can't really see what they are, but i 'think' i've also found a paton's hammer, pickaxe, etc. so these are all very useful.  The ores are not.  :/

9.    How hard were the enemies in your caves?  Haven't met any yet, and from what i see posted by others, i'm glad!!

10.  How hard were collectible items required to progress further?  I've found twisted horns, rock a holes and horseshoes.  Twisted horns were by far the easiest to find.  I had trouble with both rock a holes and horseshoes, and had to go back and forth from the caves a few times to find them all.  Had i not taken a break from looking, i would have thrown my computer out the window, because they were very difficult to find!!

11.  How hard were the movable rocks? Not hard at all, but a bit frustrating that you had to get so close to them with your hero before you could move them.  Well, i can understand why, i mean, how can you move them if you're not pushing them out of the way, right?

12.  How hard were the stalagmite parts?  The ones i encountered were very easy.  From other reports i've read, i believe i've yet to encounter the difficult ones.

13.  How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps?  Erm.  I have to admit, i knew there 'should' have been buttons, but i didn't look hard enough in the beginning stages, so both of my heros died about 10 thousand times before i got smart.  Once i knew what to look for, they were pretty easy to find.

14.  What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures?

Overall feel is that i absolutely LOVE having something new and fun to explore and do while my building are being upgraded.  At first, i have to admit, i was a tad bit discouraged, because i was a dolt and didn't disarm the traps, so my heros died so often, but once i got that all figured out, it was game on again.  Yes, it felt a bit like TT1, not entirely though, since the entire makeup of this game is so different, i can't even compare the two in my head.

I know the caves are not meant to be 'easy', and i'm not really looking for easy.  However, it is clear on nearly all my caves that there are sections that i've not yet been able to explore.  I have found the 'easy' secret passages, the ones that were revealed by clearing thorns using the garden shears or the crystals broken by the mystic hammer.  However, i find it incredibly frustrating not having any idea or clue or hint as to how to find the other secret passages to be able to explore the rest of the caves.  I keep going back and trying something else, but nothing has worked thus far.  I'm not sure if it's because i don't have the proper tools yet in my inventory to find them, or if it's something else i'm missing.  Is it intentional that not all parts of a cave will be explorable?  On one cave, i found a secret passageway, and i explored what i could, but there are barriers preventing me from exploring other parts that i can clearly see, but can't get to.  Someone told me that i won't have access to these parts, simply because there is nothing going to be there.  But is this true?  I just find that a bit frustrating to see areas (and NO, not by using the F3 key!), but not be able to get to them.  It makes me think there is something more i should do, and that i've not 'beaten' the cave.

15. If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how many times have you tried, etc.  I have not had the 'pleasure' of finding any monsters as yet.

16.  State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above.   I'm not sure i would classify this as 'interesting', but i will mention it anyway.  My one hero, leeana, has two nearly identical caves, Secret and Hidden.  The maps are nearly identical with a relatively minor difference.  Both have the same traps to disarm, both have the stacks of purified ores to pick up, both have at least one hidden passage revealed, both have a chest holding a key to a door where you have to find 16 horseshoes, both have a chasm to fill requiring 2000 wood, food and 6000 stone.  The differences are as follows...the secret opening has a different obstacle to overcome, one had thorns (this i could clear and explored the part of the map that opened up), one has a block of ice that i couldn't break, so i'm not sure what comes after that.  The only other difference is that the chasm was in a slighly different place on the map.  So, i'm not sure if this is an 'error' for one hero to have such similar caves, or if it's just an unfortunate luck of the draw.  It would have been nice to have a whole new different cave to explore, with different challenges.  So far, the only differnent challenge between these two caves is the obstacle to reveal the secret passage.

Anyway, overall, i'm really enjoying the caves!!  Definitely something interesting to do while buildings are being upgraded and yes, it's always nice to be able to pick up some goodies.  I look forward to seeing some monsters, and erm, specically, zombies!  Yes, i know it gets old how much i love zombies!  lol  Thanks a lot to bers and the TT team for a job well done!  :) :) :)

Here are a few clues on how to determine if the cave is beaten:

  • If you have found a roadstone with Ignavus message
  • If you have gathered all the gems (which is harder than just reaching roadstone mentioned above)

If you are seeing some place (without F3), usually i can be reached too, but it not always. Sometimes you have to make a choice and other paths will become unaccessible (like when using stalagmite piece when there are two identical stalagmite blocks).

Seeing unreachable things with F3 should be totally ignored - use the hotkey sparsely only in extreme cases.

I'd like to correct my response to how many secrets i've found in the cave.  I thought you meant the ignavus quest 'secrets', but now that i've actually FOUND a secret, i know what you mean!  One of my heros just found one, completely by accident.  I was having some difficulty in my 'Secret Cave', with respect to finding the switches for the spikey floor traps, so i've died several times trying to complete this cave.  This last time i went back, i moved my hero flag to the spot where i died last, and waited.  Then, all of a sudden, i heard the sound, and i looked at the screen and saw my hero had gone to a secret room and found a sextant :)  Woohoo!  Yeah, i'm thinking i probably wouldn't have found that on my own, so i'm glad my little hero is much smarter than i am :)

  1. How many caves have you completed, state their names.

I have found 8: small, mysterious, dire, secret, hidden, hollow, deep and sinister; I'm only missing the legendary, but I've only just turned 30th level, so there's still hope :) I have completed 4 (small, mysterious, hollow, dire). I'm waiting for the update with the chasm - this is the last part for me in the secret cave, forever stuck in the middle of nowhere in the hidden cave and in both deep and sinister I lack the tool to remove the final obstacles (but as far as I remeber I've gotten the Ignavius message in them).

  1. What have you found inside of them? Enemies, hidden objects, traps, movable rocks, blocking stalagmites, etc.

Everything of the above except "normal" cave enemies - only a boss. I haven't found any bears or other animals, I hope to meet them in the last one.

  1. How big/long did you felt the caves were? Too big, too short, just right, etc. Different caves have different size so state which one you are talking about.

I've gotten a bit of all of the 3 sizes and I like the fact that the length is increasing... That said I wouldn't mind if it increased further with the 10th, 11th, 12th... etc. :)

  1. What kind of items have you found inside?

A lot of consumables (including tons of ore!), equipment (but mostly for renaissance or higher levels), science points, resources

  1. Have you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? The secret is indicated by special sound and message in the log - "secret found"

I have found one half cheating :p I knew it was somewhere after pressing F3 but it still surprised me - I was just trying to push some rock and bam! it appeared just across a wall.

  1. If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick?

Hard to say - it was a figurine so always cool to find, but it didn't strike me as somthing particulary interesting. I don't much like things you can find/do by some random click or move - I prefer stuff that you have to figure out. (see the last point...)

  1. What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they?

In the 4 caves I have completed, I found them all - they were pretty easy. It was only a bit annoying when they were under rocks because it took a lot of time to check each one. Also, sometimes the wobbling starts with a lag so you might miss it if you move to another. Some rocks are also very hard to come close to - even if I put a flag on it, if the hero comes from the wrong side she will not go round to come closer and stay for example behind some other rock that's on the way.

  1. Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines?

Tons! Apart from the secret I think I found 2 figurines of teaching, no blueprints though. The most useful were construction speed ups and patton hammers. And horns, which I've already run out of... That will quiet me for some time :p

  1. How hard were the enemies in your caves?

I found one boss with minions only, and they turned out to be easier than I thought (=I didn't die on the first try!), but still tough.

  1. How hard were collectible items required to progress further?

They varied, but I liked the increasing difficulty with cave size. Horseshoes and stalgmite pieces were the most difficult, but only the stalagmites stopped me for longer than half an hour. After I figured out that some of them are locked out, it made things simpler. I figured out that the caves have sections and that I have to search within them. Also it helps to learn that there are 4 (I think) distinct tips and search for exactly one (specific) at a time. At this point  it becomes pretty easy to find them.

  1. How hard were the movable rocks?

Not hard but a tad annoying - it wouldn't be much trouble to check even every stone, but if at each of them I have to try out a couple of flag positions to move the hero close enough - it becomes boring.

  1. How hard were the stalagmite parts?

As I've written earlier - pretty easy once you figure out where and what to look for.

  1. How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps?

Again, the difficulty was increasing so at the bigger caves it was pretty hard, but still doable. I liked that sometimes one row was possible to be figured out after releasing a previous one/last one. Only before the puzzle I'm still not sure if I've got all of them. (For the deadly ones there are none right? And the two sets just beofre them have one button each?)

  1. What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures?

I liked them very much! I would even like them more if there were more of them! ;) At some point I was actually annoyed that I got a message that some of my constructions finished - it interupted my speleology adventures!

  1. If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how many times have you tried, etc.

I think I took an army that was actually too big - it was a spider queen and I checked that she was stronger and better armoured than the red dragons. So I took over 100 units: some stone age left overs to kill off, a lot of legionaries and swordsmen, some ballistas and sages. Some 20+ were killed which is not that bad... The rest got killed just a short stroll after in the deadly traps - poor souls!

  1. State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above.

Well, maybe not interesting but some issues I had - first, the lucky part with the stalgmites. I didn't like it, I'd rather it depended on some puzzles, clues, etc. not just random trial and error. Sure, at some point I figured out that if the stalagmite group is blocking a small/well hidden cave/dead end it will surely contain the other one that is needed to unlock the main path in the cave. But without pressing F3 it is hard to figure out which is which...

Second - with the deadly traps - I thought that the early clues were meant for the earlier (not deadly) sets just before the final ones as they are spread among them. It was pretty easy to figure the 2 normal ones (after pressing one button for each not many options were left). But still I thought the clues were meant as a training before the big traps. Only after I sacrificed some units to see the full pattern in the normal traps I saw that both have the same - and the clues among them were different, so they couldn't be for them. I had the correct intuition but I couldn't fit it to these and it stopped me for a long time - and couple resurrections as well - when I simply tried blindly to find the right path through the deadly ones. Once I figured that the clues are only for the deadly ones, it was much easier to solve it. Could you maybe separate them so that the normal traps don't have any clues near them? Otherwise it's really frustrating to get killed a couple of times even though you actually have an idea what the clues mean...

1. Not every hero has found the same amount of caves yet, but at least I have found 4; the small cave, the hollow cave, the hidden cave and the mysterious cave. I have not completed the last one yet. Still looking for garden sheers to cut the thorns before a little cave, and still looking for one stalagmite (found 4) What suprised me is that my smallest hero found the most.

2. The floor-panels with spikes, stalagmites. I haven't found any enemy's in the small, hollow and hidden one. But several medium and small muscards in the mysterious one. Sometimes they are there, in the dark still; army is fighting but I cannot always see how many I am fighting untill the fight is over.

3. I did find the first 3; the small, hollow and hidden one, a bit limited and small... finished them quickly. The mysterious one is larger and more challenging. I like that one :)

4. I have found a chisel, and lots and lots of trumpets. Gems of course; although there was something strange in Goram's Mystrious Cave. I collected gems, heard the sparkling sound, but they did not pile up, near my tent. Don't know where they are. I have looked again, but they are really gone... I also collected twisted horns, but have not found a chest or something that is asking for them. Also found one blue flask (for your research), one manual and one hammer. I find it a bit dissapointing. Hope to find more interesting stuff.

5. No, no secrets found yet. Read about moving stones/walls ect. but haven't found those yet

6. I will let you...

7. I found all gems in the small and hollow cave. The other caves I cannot fully see yet (blocked by a red door, (but I haven't found a key) or a missing stalagmite)

8. Are there blueprints.... really? Haven't found them. Dozens trumpets. And just one manual that is always very welcome.

9. I had enough legionary around to beat them easily.

10. - 12. The stalagmites are pretty hard to find, at least some of them.

11. I like those secret buttons to disable traps! They are not easy to find, just challeging enough.

12. The caves feel like a natural part of the game when you are keeping yourself busy with the quests. In that way they are more related to TT1 (suddenly started to long for a moment, for a looking glass again!) TT2 is of course about a lot more then the quests. The pvp-dynamics dominate the game now, I think. Also because the quests aren't finished yet. Therefore I really do like the caves in the game. You are free to choose if and when you want to play them. To become more challenging, for example like the pyramids in TT1, they should have more puzzles. Not just clicking, finding things or fighting monsters.

13. No boss found yet... or vampires (what is that hint telling us?)

14. Seems like there is still a lot more to discover. Will let you know when I have found more and update this survey

  1. How many caves have you completed, state their names. I have 6 caves so far. Small cave, Hollow cave, Dire cave and Mysterious cave appeared on the world map. Found maps to Secret cave and Hidden cave in my towns. Have found Ignavius stones in all of them. Hidden cave is not completed yet as a passage and a chest are blocked by medium thorns. I don't have the right tool yet.

  2. What have you found inside of them? Enemies, hidden objects, traps, movable rocks, blocking stalagmites, etc. Haven't found any enemies so far.Had hidden object in 3 caves : bells in one and twisted horns in 2 caves. Strangely I found 14 twisted horns in Secret cave though I only needed 10 to open the chest, so I have 4 left. I had traps (square tiles with pikes) in 4 of the caves but also stalagmites and movable rocks in some of them. Found also some passages blocked by thorns, crystal or fire

  3. How big/long did you felt the caves were? Too big, too short, just right, etc. Different caves have different size so state which one you are talking about. Small cave and Hollow cave were pretty small, a good appetizer. The biggest cave so far was Secret cave, but Mysterious, Dire and Hidden cave were of a good size too. I have the feeling the size was right for me.

  4. What kind of items have you found inside? Found a lot of items, more or less useful : unmelting ice, mining pickaxe (that was needed to open the way in Secret cave), lots of speaker horns, several savings policy, purified iron ore, some speed-up manuals for construction (1 given by the hermint in Secret cave after I poked him for a while), several onyx crystal, couple of lying carpets, bronze merchant badges, fisherman's tales, trommels, some coins, couple of Paton's hammer, 1 figurine of teaching and probably a couple of other stuffs. Also tamed 3 lovely brown bears and 1 lovely white bear, 3 flies and 1 jar of honey.

  5. Have you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? The secret is indicated by special sound and message in the log - "secret found" No secrets found though I went several times and tried to carefully explore. Without any other clue on them, I don't think I'll ever find one !

  6. If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick?

  7. What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they? Gems were OK. I didn't find them all in the first place. I'm just missing one in Hidden Cave but it might be in the chest or in the passage blocked by medium thorns

  8. Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines? No blueprints nor figurine of enlightement so far. Would say some of the items are useful. I was happy to find some adventure items as well as they were needed to go further.

  9. How hard were the enemies in your caves? Didn't meet any

  10. How hard were collectible items required to progress further? From what I've reading, I can be happy that I had bells and twisted horns to find. They were well hidden but as their colour was different from the caves, it was ok, I found them quite easily. Stalagmites parts were a little trickier but feasible

  11. How hard were the movable rocks? Once you found the first one, they're OK. It just makes exploration more precise and longer as you have to go near all the rocks to check if they are movable or not. I enjoyed them.

  12. How hard were the stalagmite parts? See above

  13. How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps? Luckily I saw something and clicked on a button in Hollow cave before marching on the square tiles. I felt like being Indiana Jones in an ancient temple. In the next caves it was a little trickier as some buttons were in areas not discovered yet. I lost a couple of units there. But I really enjoyed that part.

  14. What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures? I really enjoyed the caves so far though I am a little frustrated not to have found any secret. I had to go back several times. Didn't realise in the first place that I could go through very narrow passages, felt stuck for a while before I found them. My overall feel is that it is nice to have something to do, some exploration and yes in a way it felt like TT1.

  15. If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how many times have you tried, etc.

  16. State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above. Wouldn't be against 1 puzzle in a cave or maybe some more clues on these famous secrets.

Several questions to those who have beaten at least couple of random caves:How many caves have you completed, state their names.

Sandy Sue - 8 - Small, Hollow, Mysterious, Dire, Deep, Legendary, Sinister and Secret

Beerfairy - 8 - Small, Hollow, Dire, Deep, Legendary, Sinister, Secret and Hidden

What have you found inside of them? Enemies, hidden objects, traps, movable rocks, blocking stalagmites, etc.

All of the above

How big/long did you felt the caves were? Too big, too short, just right, etc. Different caves have different size so state which one you are talking about.

Some surprised me, I thought they would be small but got bigger as I went. Most just right.

What kind of items have you found inside?Power ups for food, stone, wood an Iron. Found 1 blueprint and a couple Veles HelmetsHave you found secrets in the caves? If so, how many of them? The secret is indicated by special sound and message in the log - "secret found"

found 1 secret

If you have found a secret, what do you think about them - is it a good addition or too much of a gimmick?

It was a surprise but would have liked "better" items, instead of safes and the fishermen thing, building speed ups are awesome.

What about gems? Have you found them all? How hard were they?

Not really into Gems

Hidden consumable items - were they useful? How many of them have you found? How many blueprints/figurines?

I found a few Figurines which will come in handy someday, 1 blue print

How hard were the enemies in your caves?

I thought they would be more difficult, but at Level 50 they were pretty easy

How hard were collectible items required to progress further?

I called you all kinds of names in my head for a few days, but after a while found them all.

How hard were the movable rocks?

Easier after you fixed them so I would not get caught behind them

How hard were the stalagmite parts?

Impossible, you should give a warning about matching them up, and even then I opened the wrong ones.

How hard were the secret buttons to disable traps?

Hard in the beginning, since I had no clue what I was looking for, but got easier, you hide them pretty well.

What was the overall feel of the caves? How do they fit with the rest of the game? What was you first impression when you explored them? Did they felt like TT1 adventures?

I liked them a lot, I hope I find more

If you have found a boss, let us know what army have you used to beat him, how difficult was that, how many times have you tried, etc.

No Bosses yet, at least nothing that said they were a Boss

State any other things you have found interesting in the cave, not mentioned specifically above.

I like that I can use items that I had in inventory, had not a clue what they were for when I found them in the first place.

Is there anyway I can do them all again??????? That would be cool, then I could get it right the next time through.
