What to do if the game does not run or connect.

I also am having the same problem launching all of a sudden.  I have tried every step as well and I still cannot launch the game.

Update …. after 1/2 hour I am at 35% finished and it still says 35min to go.

I have added the game to the “whitelist” already. But it still is not downloading unless I turn everything off, including SmartScreen filter.

And by the way, I cannot post directly into the reply screen. I have to typed in word first and then copy and paste.

Usually, it takes half an hour or more to download the update when your internet connection is very slow, this is not because of the game. Also, if you have to turn off a lot of things maybe your computer doesnt have enough active memory = RAM. 

I believe I found the problem. A program called “PlayTV” had inadvertently installed in my PC. When I uninstalled that program, everything seems to be fine now. I have enabled all my protections again.

I tried everything you suggested and still can't get past the "checking for launcher update" screen.

Then you did one of the steps incorrectly, like firewall / antivirus step.

i even went so far as to disable my virus protection in an effort to launch the game, but I'm still stuck on the "checking for launcher update" screen.

I was playing the game. got kicked and the launcher update is searching for an update forever. I can't get into the game anymore.

I rebooted, ran as administrator, checked firewall, deactivated windows savescreen, deinstalled and reinstalled, nothing helps and there is no error message. very annoying!!

I got kicked out (nothing unusual there :)), got the window with my hero, but the play button remained grey.

Closed game and started it again, then launcher update started as usual, but never got past that point. I deinstalled steam, just in case. ran as administrator. no change

I rebooted my computer, had to wait for windows updates, when all was done I started the game again, and again it didn't get passed launcher update..

after the windows update, i did receive a message from "savescreen" that it was blocking the game. I disabled savescreen. I tried to find savescreen again, but couldn't find it anymore.

I disabled firewall to see if that makes a difference, no. I checked the ports, all ports are available, anyway I just had played the game.

I disabled my wifi while launcher was running, usually I get an error message, but not this time. the game thought I was still connected to the internet, which was weird.

Now I don't know what to do! HELP!!!

I mean what happens in the end? The launcher checking for updates indefinitely?

I killed the game from the task manager and started it again. No change. launcher update keeps looking for an update. Maybe if you had a minor update, it would help?

I deleted enkord update agent.exe (32bit) from the task manager and started the game. no change

after I deleted it, the cancel button turned grey.

it is updating a file of 1.3 MB. you could have made it smaller!! :) I hope this will let me enter the game.

I think I missed three 000. 1,3 GB?

I am having the same problem have would like to know if someone has come up with a solution for the problem. (staying on launcher updating)

I just started playing the game (was invited to alpha today) i played for a bunch of hours, and turned it off.

Now i cant start the game, i get stuck in the "Checking for Game Update... Place wait..." (after getting stuck in the Checking for updates on Launcher, but i shutdown Update Agent and it went to game update)

Cancel Button is also gray and i cant stop it (i cant force close it from task manager)

EDIT: after adding Core.exe and the game launcher to firewall, everything worked fine

I started having this problem yesterday, and again today.  After trying for 5-6 hours to do everything berserker suggests, the only way I have been able to get into the game by uninstalling the game, reboot the computer, then reinstalling the game.  For some reason, this is working, it is a big pain, but it is working for me so far.
