Totem Tribe 2 will be released earlier but with limited features.

Totem Tribe 2 will be released earlier but with limited features.

Our decision to make Totem Tribe 2 online-enabled to support multiplayer now allows us to do other interesting things. Since we have so much stuff planned for TT2, it will be very hard to pull it off in the next 1-2 years. On one side we want to make this game as big and diverse as possible, but on the other side we don't want our fans to wait years and years till release. Therefore we decided to release the game with limited number of features but will keep adding more stuff to the game later. Moving the game towards multiplayer and online play will allow us to do just that. Totem Tribe 2 will have automated updater which will allow to update the game each time you launch it, if there is a new content available. You will no longer need to search for patches and fixes or download new versions. Automated downloader will do that for you.

sounds awesome! impatiently waiting, but not so impatient as to want you to release an inferior product :)

That sounds totally fantastic. What a great idea! Especially since I am not interested in the multiplayer side of the game anyway. :)

Berserker, please advise if you have an estimated release date? I have received many messages on another forum asking me for details. I would not be surprised to see a few more members to your site today! LOL

I like the idea but hope the initial release won't be so small as to make gameplay worthless until the second release is out. As someone who doesn't play multiplayers in general, I and who doesn't want to be connected to the net just to have the 'full experience', I hope whatever you come up with is well balanced between the two. Jewels69988, berserker has previously stated it won't be out until next year or 2013.

na3na3, Our plan is to make a public beta and then improve it constantly with frequent updates (it can be even daily sometimes). We've tried this system for our GUNROX game and it worked out really well. This way we could kinda do late development stages together with our players and react to their feedback. In example: if we've added some new feature, but majority of players are not happy and would like to see it tweaked somehow. Then in the next update released next day we will change it and due to automated nature of updates, everyone have this issue fixed right away without any hassle. Unfortunately this system requires internet connection to our servers, so you won't be able to play TT2 offline.

It's a great news that you want to release it sooner although for me will be difficult because I travel a lot and sometimes the internet connection is not great and I have to be very carefull how much I download. If you will make it possible to be played offline it would be great. Even if I have internet connection most of the time, I won't be able to use my data allowance on playing online.

Ah well if I can't play off line I probably won't. I don't like to be at the mercy of my internet just to play a game. I mentioned when you first had this idea of multi player that if it was an online game only I won't be playing. Well to bad for me. I really love TT and TTG. I guess I'll just have to miss out on TT2. At least I no longer need to check in for news anymore. Good luck with the new game.

vivia, brendatimj, While it will require internet connection, it does not reqiure a good one. We will make sure that even a really bad one will work. unducky, You have my thoughts nailed down. While I like games where you can enter later and see stuff changed while you were absent, I hate that you can't play as long as you want in one sitting. That's what we gonna do - you will be able to play as much as you want if you want to.

How much would you have to pay for the game and how often, to be able to enjoy the full content and all the updates?

It's too early to talk about payment when there is no actual game :)

I am happy to receive updates online, or if I chose to do multiplayer, then of course, happy to connect. But to be able to play at all should be made available whether you're connected or not. I have to say, I agree with the others: if it's required to be online to play at all, then I am less inclined to purchase. I don't mind the instalments, if the game comes in 'bits and pieces' as you build it... but having to be connected at all times just to play would be frustrating (I have a temperamental connection at the best of times) and seems pointless if I don't want to do multiplayer gaming which is extremely likely. "Unfortunately this system requires internet connection to our servers, so you won't be able to play TT2 offline." This sentence is misleading to me, because the previous paragraphs of that post suggest that only the updates/mutliplayer/feedback would require internet connection, but the last sentence suggests that gameplay as a single player would need a connection.

The game will be online even despite the fact that you can play alone without interacting with other players and automated updates are just an example of good feature that can be done after we decided to move online. Another good example would be online ranking and achievements. I understand that some players can't be online all the time but we have to move forward. It's 2011 and most of PCs are connected to the internet anyway. We might loose some fraction of offline-only players but going online brings so much fun to the game in so many new ways that we can't disregard this, sorry. If that means we are loosing some players like you, it's a pity, but we won't change our path.

It's just that you are contradicting yourself. In previous posts you said that the game could be played offline. My concern is that you are trying to do something like Gunrox and not an actual sequel to TT. It's one thing to be able to upgrade the game online and to be able to enjoy a multiplayer feature if you chose to do so, and something entirely different if you are making it an exclusively online game.

I never said it could be played offline after we announced multiplayer addition and honestly I don't see a major problem here. Even if it would be offline, you still have to download it online and purchase it online. I don't see how technical details can be a major concern to a regular players since usually players just want enjoyable gaming experience, and that's what this game is all about. My experience says that the only people who should be upset with us going online are pirates, cause online games can't be pirated. And that's another positive moment of going online-only - piracy rate for original TT and TTG was huge. This time those people will have to pay or skip on the game altogether.

You had a lot of piracy and a lot of publicity also. People will buy a game that they actually like, even if they can have it for free.
