[SURVEY] Would YOU invite more players to Totem Tribe II?

1 2 3 4

I think if the incentive was in-game rewards for inviting people, I'd need greater rewards than those listed. I only recommend other games rarely as I don't like feeling a nuisance to friends. However, for me the incentive for inviting people will much more be about this currently being an alpha game and wanting to help it to succeed, and the goodwill generated by the love I have for TT1.

The lower level rewards wouldn't matter to me. Advanced level rewards which would be more tempting to me (if I wasn't motivated by goodwill), could include boosters e.g. 1% boost to food income, Enkord cash, exclusive locations, adventure items or armour.

I don't think it is too crowded in the west of the continent where new accounts start up. The game is crowded only when veterans start actively in the beginning of each alpha stage. You have to keep in mind, that not all new players dig the game, a lot of them quit for various reasons (not always game related) making room for others.

I don't think crowding is that big of an issue right now, but the game can be competitive, there is no point in hiding that, that's part of it's charm.

I don't know anyone else that plays games that I could invite. If I did, I would take advantage of the incentives. But, not until the server quits crashing. It starts to really lag as well. I think the game is fun and should be shared. It's also a little claustrophobic right now too.

I WANT to invite someone to play with me, however i have real life problems or problems you cant solve right now, the main one being the language. Here in my country everyone "knows" english but, even though the game language isnt too complicated, i would like to see people of my age trying to understand it... so i am really limited with posible choices. Of course, i am not asking you to translate the whole game at this stage, i understand there is no point in doing that. I would also suggest some more "take it easy" subliminal messages in the tutorial, young people tend to take everything like personal attacks.

Even though for me getting players to you is hard, rewarding you for doing it is a great idea. the rewards seem to be ok, but i havent thought much about them.

Lets face it, there WILL be annoying children. Its just a matter of time how much time will it take for them to notice the game when it gets launched. Its like a rule, if a game community is open to the public, there will be annoying kids. At least you can implement good ways to stop them now that we are easier to handle... :p

I like the idea of inviting new people , wish this had happened last week when I had 2 friends request invites :(  I also like the idea of progressive rewards as we "tutor" our friends... again wish I had waited..one of them texts me daily with pictures and questions, lol.  On the other hand I also struggle with the idea of sharing the already crowded space, but I also understand you did not need to do this and could just had made open invite to people, therefor I'm grateful for the opportunity to put in my 2 cents. I will "screen" my invites, if I do refer anyone.  Thank you.

I am not interested in the rewards at all - I would invite my friends only if I think they would enjoy the game.

This is a brilliant game - but the overcrowding is causing a lot of needless aggravation.  Newbies starting do not get the time to learn how to play the game and to love it without the big experienced players telling them to delete and move on or be attacked.

It is very disheartening to be attacked when you first start playing.

If you were able to control the invites, so all the new players were on a separate continent, so they can learn the game before getting wiped out, then maybe it would be a good idea to invite more players.

For the overcrowding issue, couldn't we limit people to 1 Hero each instead of multiple heroes?

I very much like the pattern. So far, I've got only one minor tweak ,but I really want to see it implemented: My own first siege unit is often a Ballista, not a Ram or Catapult. I think that ought to count for a reward.

Great idea. However, overcrowding is a serious issue with most players, newer and seasoned. Not only is this a great personal expense due to hurried expansion and growth, i feel this would be a big issue with any new or potential new players. Also, with more advanced players attacking new players before they have a chance to understand and enjoy the game, is a bad advertisement for what is a brilliant game. a hero level restriction could be put on attacks to encourage new players to develop and enjoy the full potential of the game.

exactly.  I was thinking the same thing.  before I read the gift list, I was thinking I'd be glad to invite a few people, but only if the spacing was increased.

I have some thoughts on this.  Big surprise, I know.  First of all, my biggest concern is server stability.  So, I am concerned that large scale invites like we have had thus far will tax the system to the point where people become discouraged.

That being said,  rather like the idea of smaller, more select invites being sent by existing players.  I have a couple of people already interested.  I would prefer that invites be sent to people we personally know, rather than the anonymous random system that is done through facebook now.  We have a pretty good testing community now and I prefer selective invites to hordes of people suddenly showing up who may have no regard for the community and its sensibilities.

Secondly, the crowding now is at fever pitch.  It's hard for new players to really enjoy the game when the larger, faster players are constantly trying to make room and this could be discouraging as well.  I still have an invite or two available so the ability to invite has been here for sometime.  I'm not sure, however, that I will exercise them in this environment.  I have been guilty myself of working to get someone to move either by friendly persuasion or instigation of hostilities.  Both can engender resentment that I think can be damaging to the community in the long run.  In a public release it's not really a problem since you don't know people but in a smallish testing environment such as this one, it can become problematic.

I'm sure I will think of more, lol.  But, for now those are my thoughts.

I have some that I would like to invite but I agree with many that overcrowding is an issue with new players. They need alot of tutoring and time to get to know just the basics before quests, caves, etc. on top of the battles needed to maintain territory. I would agree with others also that the rewards are fine, any extra items are always a nice surprise! The players we have now are a good alpha group..just my opinion  :)

I have and will continue to use any invites i get to bring my friends into the game that i think will enjoy it.
Rewards are just a plus i think, i have used all i was given and a few stopped playing and the invites are just used up lol

But overall, i think this is a great idea, i would love to gain extra items and i am sure others would too.

Yes, I think incentive-based recruiting is a good idea.  A lot of my friends think I'm weird that I play this game, so I'm not sure I would get anyone to play, but I would probably put a little more effort into it.  I believe people would be more selective in who they invite if there are rewards at stake as well.  I would invite people even without rewards.

The rewards you list are great!  We can never have enough blueprints ; )

Questions:  I have the same concerns as everyone else as far as overcrowding.  Will the server handle it?  How many more players can it handle?  Is there a reason we are all squished this phase?  Is it to fit more people?  If so, some people may not want to invite new players.  Yes, we're greedy land hogs. LOL!

I really don't know anyone that would like to play this game right now.   But I think the incentive program is a good idea.  I have no issue with the rewards.  It looks fine to me.   If I knew any to invite though rewards would not really be necessary as i enjoy sharing fun things with others.   The crowding can be an issue and new people are often put off by being attacked before they get anywhere.  They feel defeated and give up.   Yes, it really does cause people to feel badly when they don't understand anything yet and people are telling them to leave often with threats which personally I believe is uncalled for.   I have not done any of that and people voluntarily notice there isn't enough space and take themselves off without my having said a word.   Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for working so hard to make this a fun game for us all.

I like how the rewards system has been planned. I think it should be kept meager but not too mean so that those who are hesitant to invite their friends will take a leap and at the same time not bring in just about anyone in the greed of rewards.

Personally, I liked Totem Tribe Gold very much and would invite any of my friends who have played and liked TT(G) or those who haven't but will potentially enjoy TT2. That's why I've been saving my limited invites for such people. So this reward system doesn't really excite me. We all like to keep our community 'clean and friendly'. But those 'annoying kids' the devs are trying so hard to keep at bay can only be avoided for so long. Many such players are bound to take notice when the game releases or even advances to next alpha/beta. I'm just very suspicious about rewarding for invites being helpful in the long run, and how overcrowding has become a problem has already been stressed many times by others befor me.

Forget about overcrowding, there is none at the moment :)

Joking aside what you refer to the overcrowding is not an issue, it is a part of the game design. It may be disheartening to some players, but this makes you compete with others and keep you going. This is what distinguishes this game from any other farm game out there. The real overcrowding was in the beginning of Alpha 5 when all veterans started at the same time, but now it is more or less ok and along the lines of how it was planned.

The same goes for warfare. I cannot recall how many people complained about it, but not that many actually quit because of it. This is also the feature that make you stay on your toes and is part of the overall the game design.

You cannot guard newbies from everything and there is no point in protecting from competing for space or from being attacked. The game provides enough means to deal with that and if experienced player (referrer) will be behind a newbie with advice on how to deal with first attacks and other difficult situations it will greatly increase the chance newbie will figure the game out and stay.

So I would say, stop thinking about crowding as an issue, because it's not, it's part of the game design and while it may look discouraging at first, it is actually drives the competition up and makes the game more dynamic and alive so I view it as a feature, not an issue.

Also those people who say they don't know whom to invite, or don't have friends, etc. - propose the list of gifts which will motivate YOU to be more creative about it and invite someone despite the fact that there is noone. Don't be afraid to ask for more items,  just be specific :)

Personally. I would wait for a working in-game friend list before I would bother inviting any more people.

As being able to quickly and easily contact my invited friends and give them advice/help when they ask for/need it would (hopefully) improve the chance of my invited friends staying in the game and therefore earning me those higher level rewards.

The reward idea is a good one I think and I do have more people that I would consider inviting but have held off until I could see how the spacing issue would work out. I have said before that you did that on purpose :).This game is a large and I imagine costly venture and at this juncture more players are needed for various reasons. With that being said I do have one suggestion that I would like to propose:  the number of heroes a person can have has already been reduced from 10 to 5 so why not reduce it to 3?. I have found that more than that really isn't needed for testing purposes and becomes more of a land and resource grab issue.  I believe that this is a contributing factor to the space issue.I would like to have people I know playing this game so when I send them a pm to tell them they are in a bad spot because I can see what resources are around they would at least answer me lol.   Joking aside----I like the idea and would be willing to bring more on board whether or not there are rewards :)

I like the idea of rewards but not sure you have pitched it right, I think I would like it to be a bit more generous.  Having said that I have mentioned the game to some who I thought might like to try it and none have taking me up mainly because for game play they use i-pads which I understand are not yet able to be used.
