[SURVEY] Would YOU invite more players to Totem Tribe II?

I like the idea of rewards but not sure you have pitched it right, I think I would like it to be a bit more generous.

Come on. I will repeat it third time - post your counter-proposals on how generous it should be, don't be shy. I don't know whether it is generous or not, because I am not a player, that's why I am asking - speak up!

To be honest, I am not sure at all that I would like to invite people to play this game. It is extremely time consuming - I feel I have to be on "24/7" in order to expand and not being "eaten" by neighbours and bored warriors. But it is also very addictive + one makes good friends on the way too and that is really nice. I would prefer it to be a better balance between warriors and more peaceful players. New players must get frustrated with sometimes little space for expansion plus all the time and or money it takes to upgrade everything. I know it has to be like that, but I hate all the waiting. I guess I prefer games with a clearer story line and a lot of puzzles to war games. I have been thinking of leaving this game many times - too time consuming - but I am still playing, having a nice time, chatting with my alliance, reading the chats etc. and wondering if I ever will find all the caves. Addictive - Oh yes.
When it comes to the gifts for inviting players, they should be so good that it somehow pays off to have friends play too. I haven't played long enough to know what all those gifts listed can be used for.

Thanks for making this game - and for inviting me to play it. I enjoy it (even though my comments above could tell you otherwise) and am glad to get new friends across the world. This is the first time I play such a game, and I am learning a lot from my friends. Thanks again.

I very much like the pattern. So far, I've got only one minor tweak ,but I really want to see it implemented: My own first siege unit is often a Ballista, not a Ram or Catapult. I think that ought to count for a reward.

Or, I should have added, Greek Fire.

I don't think it is too crowded in the west of the continent where new accounts start up. The game is crowded only when veterans start actively in the beginning of each alpha stage. You have to keep in mind, that not all new players dig the game, a lot of them quit for various reasons (not always game related) making room for others.

I don't think crowding is that big of an issue right now, but the game can be competitive, there is no point in hiding that, that's part of it's charm.

That sounds like a cop out. I opened an account and landed in the west and was completely surrounded. Most of the comments are regarding the overcrowding. Please don't dismiss that with calling the game competitive. We all know it's competitive. The idea is to get new players and the best way to do that is to get them hooked before they realise how competitive the game can be. Break them in gently, realistically speaking

I'd like to be able to invite a friend to play whether I get rewards or not, but having rewards is a good incentive for players to choose the best candidates to invite.

Also those people who say they don't know whom to invite, or don't have friends, etc. - propose the list of gifts which will motivate YOU to be more creative about it and invite someone despite the fact that there is noone. Don't be afraid to ask for more items,  just be specific :)

Add lots and lots of keys and herbicide to each gift.

I restarted my hero and landed in a new sector and on clearing the fog of war found myself to be surrounded by at least 6 other players all within a 13 by 15 square. That's 195 square map with 6 players in it, that's an average of 32.5 squares each to build in effect.

When you build your 2nd town and try and start a 3rd town it states that you need 15 Settlers or a further 44 squares in your original town. As you can see with the above, it's going to have to be 15 further settlers to go any further Town building wise.

One town is so close (only 3 x 2 in square lengths) that on day 3 we have both already lost out on squares to each other. At present, I have lost 6 squares as I am slightly more developed than him. He's lost out on 2 squares, however, his next expansion means that he misses even further squares and his culture is only at 60 at present.

Give me another couple of expansions and that squashes me up to 2 more other towns which means more squares lost.

I think one of the problems is allowing people more than 1 hero, that takes up space. I've seen people with up to 4 Hero's and there's possible more people with more than that. Limit people to 1 hero, that would free up space.

Please do not derail this thread into discussions of crowding. I have already aswered the concern, but if you want to discuss it further, please do it in separate thread. The subject of this thread is slightly different and more important.

i think the hero level rewards are too small, as it gets really tough to level up after level 20+ for most players, i would say add extra items, like small packs at 30+. The rest i think fits in just fine. Could also add in keys for the eggs :)

Well I think you should start off by rewarding a blueprint for every new player someone brings in then proceed with your rewards progression the way it is. If you don't want to use blueprints then maybe a figurine would work too.

I would invite everyone I know to the game, because it is really fun and I would love for my real life friends to join in on the fun.

The rewards are nice, but the real "reward" is having friends that are playing too.

I do like the idea of keys as a reward. That would really motivate me to invite others.

Okay, from the feedback obtained from here I have made a conclusion that for majority of people (mostly those who already donate and have plenty of items through shop/bonus packages) the rewards listed here are nice but not motivating enough, because they can get the same with less hassle from shop.

Which made me thinking how to motivate such people. From the beginning of the game there were plants to add strictly visual items which can customize the look of your hero without adding any gameplay advantages like increased states. We haven't implemented such cosmetic items because we have others stuff to do, but we are getting close to making them and this is where promotion comes in.

So here is the new deal.

What if bringing new players to the game will bring you items which will allow to visually customize your hero in a UNIQUE way? Would that motivate you to invite new people more?

By saying unique I mean outfit items that are not obtainable the other way. An example of cosmetic items could be: fancy hat, eyeglasses, earrings, necklace, shirt / blouse, gloves, etc.

That's not a replacement, but in addition to regular items I have roughly outlined in the first post of this thread.

I love the idea of being able to customize my hero.  Your offers are getting better :)

As someone mentioned, a level 50 hero takes a lot of time and effort.  Maybe a prize "bundle" would be more worthwhile, something like you get in a Pysanka.

You know what would be really cool?  A special "critter" that you can add to your army that you can't get any other way or in the cash shop.  I recall some really neat critters defending some towns in prior alphas :))))

Just an idea.  I'm sure you haven't received enough of those yet :D

I enjoy the game, however, I find it very competitive and if you can't play 24/7 you will get behind. So no, I would not invite any of my friends. If there was a version like TTG then yes, I absolutely would recommend it. As of now, my family members are already upset with me for spending too much time on the game and not on the real life.

I would love hero customization items if they were available in the store.

Good idea. Yes, giving some monsters as units to your army is not a bad idea and not hard to be implemented.

Okay, aside from regular items and unique outfit, the progress of invited players will also give you another 2 unique categories: tamed monsters and town decorations.

  1. Tamed monsters would be cages with monsters that when applied will give specific monster like dendrog, a yeti, or even a dragon into your army, which you will not get in any other mean.
  2. Town decorations are unique decorations like statues or sculptures which will decorate your town and add a minor boost to your culture, they cannot be obtained other than as bonus for progress of invited players.

How does that sound? Does the deal getting better with all 4 categories or rewards?

The monster idea is GREAT, but i think of the animals more like an achievement itself than an army troop. Maybe a late age zoologic to keep them safe and that provides small boosts to culture? i would hate earning a dragon and loosing it just because someone decides my town is in a bad place and attacks me. If you were to add them, i would add an option to exclude them from the attacking/defending troops, like the shelter, to make them just a "decoration" for your town

PD: This is a good moment to suggest a small quest about the real nature of the dendrogs. Are they plants? or animals? or none? Be creative and let us learn more about Teya, we dont know anything besides what Groomus tells us. Maybe a life researcher npc... or maybe it can be introduced in the main story somehow?
