Happy 3rd Birthday, Totem Tribe II: Jotun!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Totem Tribe II: Jotun!

Today we are celebrating the 3rd Birthday of Totem Tribe II: Jotun. It has been exactly 3 years since we launched the ALPHA 1 version of the game to the general public and now we are approaching ALPHA 7. Let's look back  and reminisce about things that happened during the last year.

We have had similar threads for earlier Birthdays, so you can browse them here: 1st Birthday, 2nd Birthday.

So - what were the major milestones of the past year?

  • Travelling Characters were added. They added some life to your stale towns. Some of them were trivial, while others were deep and even had large quests (think Necromancer). We are going to add more unexpected events to your towns in the future.
  • ALPHA 6 was launched on the 23rd of March 2016. This was the biggest event of the last year and featured loads of new content. Industrial Age was introduced along with all those new units and buildings, and a pack of quest locations such as monster dens, a whole new desert climate, Tesla minigame and many more. You can review the news of alpha 6 launch here.
  • Ongoing interface changes. This year we finally found time to improve game interface and to make it more convenient and less buggy and laggy. New minimap with icons, new build menu and upgrade screens were highly regarded by players and today we are also adding some more eye-candy to the interface. You can compare how game interface looked back in 2012 at our facebook page. In the future we also plan to redesign how advisors work, so all those annoying Zweistein popups will go away.
  • Random Dungeons were evolutionary improvement over Random Caves , which were introduced during A4. The addition is 9 randomly generated dungeons which are different for each hero.
  • Numerous balancing updates can be easily overlooked. They are those minor bits that might be hard to notice at first glance, but shape the game's fundamentals and make it fun to play. I am talking about things like Tavern building, prolonged beginners' protection which smoothed out the early gaming for newbies, destruction balancing which made it more reasonable, alliance balancing, improved movement speed of all units which made the game more fun, and finally - the most recent easier recovery from destruction. By the way, in today's update we have increased timers for easier recovery x2.
  • Other updates - there have been dozens of smaller updates throughout the year and if you are really curious, you can find the list of all changes for the past 12 months in our update log.

Thanks to your support we were able to make it through another year, and closer to our ultimate vision of how Totem Tribe II should be. Yes, it may look like the game still needs a lot of work, and it's true, but we will do our best to make sure you have fun while we are slowly moving toward the full version release.

To celebrate today's Totem Tribe II: Jotun birthday, everyone receives gifts in the form of a Supporter's Key, Truce Proclamation, non-expirable Thank You Package, and 3 Lucky Coins.

Speaking about the future - ALPHA 7 is pretty close. Although we don't have the date for it yet, I can talk about things that need to be done before we launch it:

  • The Karfaree is finally in the full production. This is a major cornerstone on our way toward more main story progression. Once we do it, the rest should move faster.
  • Another set of side quest locations. Similar to caves/dens/dungeons, they will keep you occupied for some time while you are doing your building and battling.
  • New minigame in the vein of Garden/Tesla for all those puzzle-lovers :)

Today's update also deploys major changes to in-game interface, which is now lighter and prettier - less things that stand in your way, your town list at the bottom is easier to use, minimap is in the transparent globe to obscure less game area and so on.

Now everyone post your most memorable game moment of the year! How many years are you with us? :)

I love the dungeons, I started a new hero just to do the dungeons while we wait for A7. I have been around for longer than 3 years.

Wow, another puzzle! thats interesting. I have little doubt that nothing good will happen to the new npc. The new interface looks nice, but the globe in the world map annoys me a little, since the back is grayish and its a bit more tiring to see, i preferred it white. Overall, its a nice change.

I have been here since alpha 2, but i followed the forum a bit earlier

I was in the first group to start testing Totem Tribe II: Jotun  in Alpha 1, three years ago and have played almost every day since then.

My very first reaction when I saw the first page load in Alpha 1 was "WOW!", because I was very impressed with the quality of the scenery graphics in the hero page. I have enjoyed watching the game grow and mature with each new update.

The team has done an excellent job developing this game. Best of luck for the future:))

And many thanks for the birthday goodies :))

I originally registered on the enkord website back in 2010. I have played TT and TTG many times. I first went to the website just looking to see what other games enkord might have and always watching for news of TT II. You can find many posts of mine from the beginning of plans for this game, not all of them very flattering, and I was really thrilled and surprised that I got an invite to participate in Alpha one. The only downside I can think of to that is that I have been addicted to this game since then.

As far as most memorable moments of the last year, I think it would have to be getting the first victory in last stage and the shock of having my hero vanish from the world map, not my shock but all of the other players who did not know what had happened :) The game is progressing very nicely and every change brings it closer to something that is outstanding.

I am totally looking forward to the next stage and the new things that will be brought for us to test and try out.

I also played the original TT and TT Gold, tagged on to the website eons ago and discovered many new Enkord games and .....  the beginning of the development of TT II. I was excited as can be knowing that Totem Tribe would live on in a whole new world. After following the progress for quite some time I was invited to join in Alpha 2. My first experiences were clumsy in the least, but because of the help and kindness of other players I found my way through. I have barely missed a day of play since. The changes over the years are something to experience. The added content, the improvement in interface, the graphics, the puzzles, the dens and caves  - all continue to enhance the experience of playing this game. Some changes have made things quite difficult to overcome, but I am always up for a challenge, so bring it on! Thank you Enkord team for a great three years, for your hard work and dedication. A big Happy Birthday #3! and thank you (once again) for the birthday gifts.

I have only played since  Alpha 4 and stumbled through it.  Since then I have been amazed at the quality of design and the efforts of the Development team to make it more challenging and enjoyable.  Thank you for your gifts and congratulations on your Third Birthday.

Since everyone is confessing their beginings, here is mine :) I started palying TT in 2009, I was hooked on the original, then tt2 and couldnt wait for tt Gold to finally come out. I think I bought it as it was released :). But when this version came to be I was aprehensive about this format. I did ignored a few invitations until Alpha 4. Needless to say I've been hooked ever since. I have enjoyed all aspects of the game. I love how it has transformed into the game it is today and can only imagine what it will be when all done. I am not shy to admit I have gone out and tried other games, but got bored within a few hours and have returned. I have not found a game with the variaty, challenges and options this one offers. This was and trully is a very ambicious project. Congratulations, Keep up the great work !!.... Now about those icons... really, that big?? sorry....had to ,lol

In A7 will it just be Karfaree or will we get Information age too? Just wondering, I think Karfaree will be enough for now. We have heard about it for 3 years. Can't wait.

Nope, there won't be new age. There will be new politics though.

I've been here since A2 and I remember the old interface and how I had no idea who was who or what was what.  Those were the days of 10 heroes, lol.  I wonder how we managed to expand with only stone age storage!  :-)  I played the two previous incarnations of TT and began to follow the progress of this game development on the old website.  I missed my invite when it went to spam and it was purely by accident that I found my download looking for other Enkord games to play.  I downloaded TT2 and haven't looked back since.  :-)

Every stage since that one has brought new surprises, new fun, new challenges and always great artwork.  The changes that have been made throughout this process are sometimes frustrating, but more often than not they make the game a better experience.  And, as I say to myself many times a day, this is a visionary project with lots of changes to come, so I hope to see the final product live up to its promise.  I have not seen any other game as fun and varied as this one.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is one incredible achievement..

Congratulations on  your third anniversary, TT2 and congrats Enkord Team on one helluva product!

To celebrate today's Totem Tribe II: Jotun birthday, everyone receives gifts in the form of a Supporter's KeyTruce Proclamation, non-expirable Thank You Package, and 3 Lucky Coins.

I have not used the gifts, did not need to. I can't move them to any of my other hero's either.  Will they roll over to A7?
